Declan stretched his arms out in the elevator as he yawned. This morning had been a long one. Somehow he had managed to get Rosie up and out of bed, made her a protein shake and they had gone off to the gym. But once they had stepped inside, he gave her a kiss and they sort of parted ways. She had her own routine at the gym that she was pretty good at – clearly. Look at her. And he had started an interval training during his role in the Host that he wanted to upkeep. So basically he was just running as fast as he could for ten seconds, then jogging for fifteen. Which sounded pretty easy, and it was. At first. Then it just sort of ended up kicking your ass. So now he was meeting his producers, sweaty as hell. The frenzy team around the Host had wanted to discuss things such as interviews, premiers, photoshoots, things like that. Bringing Rosie along just sort of made sense – this was just an errand. And after they got home and showered he wanted to take her out somewhere to eat. As the elevator doors opened Declan placed his hand on Rosie’s lower back and walked out of the elevator with her. When he saw the girl who had starred in the movie with him he offered a polite smile. “ Suck you in as well?” he asked with a short laugh. Honestly, he still wasn’t sure about her. She was a good actress. But she wasn’t beautiful by any means – at least not in his opinion. Though, when you were comparing to Rosie it wasn’t really a fair game for the rest of the females in the world. Declan lowered his hand to Rosie’s, heading down the hallway so he could find the right office when one of the producers came out of his office. “ Declan, you made it!” he said happily before chuckling. “ Will I ever get to see you not covered in sweat?” he asked , jokingly pointing out how Declan had spent most of the movie covered in sweat and dirt. “ I hear I can clean up pretty nice,” Declan joked, placing his free hand in his front pocket. “ Rosie, it’s always a pleasure to see you dear,” he said as he looked over at her. The crew had gotten to know her pretty damn well over the course of the shoot. “ Alright, why don’t you both step in. We can talk about the shoots, interviews, premieres.. which I’m sure you’ll be attending, Rosie.” he said with a polite wink before opening the door to his office and stepping inside. Declan gave Rosie’s hand a quick squeeze before stepping inside and pulling a chair out for her before sitting down himself. “ Okay, so the interview process is going to start out pretty quickly actually. We need you to start appearing on some late night shows starting next month. Try to find a suit before then,” he said teasingly. Declan gave a small smirk before biting the edge of his lip as he listened. “ Now you and the other two are going to do a tour overseas first, there’s a little bit more buildup of excitement there right now. Some appearances you’ll do alone with her, some he will, most you’ll do all together. We’re going to be doing five different stops throughout Europe, and then two in China and Japan.”. Declan narrowed his eyebrows a bit, figuring that of those five in Europe they would most likely be going to England and Ireland. At least, those were the only ones he gave a shit about at all.
Declan yawned, sort of ignoring the rest about photo shoots and interviews –both late night and early morning talk shows. Yeah.. he could charm the ladies of The View. He didn’t see the point in having a meeting about it. Flirt with the ladies while at the same time being adorable about his relationship with Rosie – charming someone wasn’t something he needed lessons on. But none of it mattered anyways. He wasn’t going to be “ cutesie” about Rosie because someone told him to. He was going to be honest about his relationship with her. That’s sort of what his mantra was – and besides, most people thought the way he honestly felt about her was pretty damn adorable anyways. But as he looked up at the producer who had abruptly stopped speaking, he blinked in confusion taking in the look on his face. But the producer quickly recovered, placing on a polite smile. “ Rosie, I’m sure this is all very boring for you. Why don’t you head into the reception area? I’m pretty sure Janine put out fresh fruit and bagels this morning. There’s a whole breakfast spread,” he offered. Declan looked over at her, giving a small nod, mainly because he had no idea what the hell this guy was getting at. But she probably wanted to make herself a cute little bowl of strawberries and blueberries anyways. ” Grab me a bagel,” he said as he leaned over in his chair to give her a quick kiss before letting go of her hand. Declan waited for the sound of the door to shut behind them before he shook his head curiously at the producer. “ What?” he questioned. “ Was she wearing an engagement ring?” he asked and Declan held his breath for a moment. So far they had been able to avoid paparazzi – but they weren’t hiding it either. “ Yes,” he said flatly. “ Why do you care?” he asked, finding himself becoming a bit irritated. The normal response was ‘oh my, congratulations’. Not ‘ Rosie, why don’t you be a dear and give me a moment alone with your fiance’. “ Declan…” he said with a sigh. “ Look we all like, Rosie,” he said, sounding almost cautious. He looked up at Declan, as though he was expecting some sort of response. But what was there to say to that? Yes. We all like Rosie. So instead he lifted his eyebrow up at the producer pointedly in response. “It’s just with Twilight and the Hunger Games.. part of their success belongs to the relationships formed between two of the main stars in each movie,” he said. “ Oh you’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” Declan said as he slouched into his chair. He was not the right guy to discuss this with. “ I’m not going to date her. Are you seriously suggesting that I break up with Rosie? Because you can go fu-“ he ranted off before being interrupted. “ No no no, we would never say to leave Rosie. But dating her and being engaged to her are two different things. Could you at least ask her to take off the ring until the movie is out after opening weekend?” he asked and Declan took in a deep breath and sighed like he was contemplating it. “ No,” he said flatly with a nod of his head. “ Declan, think of what is best for the series,” he started off and this time Declan sat up. “This is not a series. It is one book. One movie. That was the deal. Twilight is bullshit.. and those actors heads are so big they have no one else to fall in love with but each other. And Dan and Meredith are… that’s fucking different, mate. Dan’s done the forced relationships in Hollywood before. If you think that he is with Meredith for the success of the movie then your head is up your ass,” he said before leaning forward. “ You can control what I say when I’m on set, and how I deliver my lines. This is my life. I am engaged to Rosie. And I’m not going to hide it for some damn movie. Take away the movie, take away the modeling. She is a young woman who just got proposed to. She is excited. I am excited. I wouldn’t stop her from screaming it from the top of your damn building if she wanted to. And if this damn movie becomes a series.. I’m sorry to inform you now that you may have cast the wrong man. Because I refuse to be a puppet to whatever media attention you’ll be trying to get. Talk to the other guy, make him flirt with her,” he said as he started to stand up. “ Declan, I didn’t mean to upset you. Let’s sit down and discuss this,”. Declan pushed the seat in and took a step back. “ This meeting is over. Send me the schedule for where I need to be and when. I’m going to spend the rest of the day with my lovely fiancé,” he said before giving him a pointed smile that probably looked like the nicest way to facially express ‘ go screw yourself’. Declan left the office, leaving the door open behind him before he made his way over to Rosie – who just as he had expected had made herself a bowl of fruit and was guarding what looked to be the last bagel in the office like her life depended on it. “ Ah thank you darling,” he said as he leaned down and placed another kiss on her lips. After taking her hand in his he gestured for her to pick up her fruit. “ Let’s get out of here, I just want to take a shower and take you out,” he said, leaning down to pick up the bagel before he bit into it. No carving, no cream cheese. Just biting straight into the bagel like he always did. Besides if his mouth was full and chewing, he could take a few moments to try and figure out how he was going to explain this to Rosie. NOT that it would EVER be an option. His only issue was that he felt like she deserved to know – and seeing as how she had told him that his ‘honesty’ came off as harsh, maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to at least attempt to sugar coat something for her for once in his life.
