Ian looked in his reflection, loosening his tie that he had been forced to wear all day. He’d been sitting in meetings with his father, and they still had some later in the evening. But there was some personal business he had needed to get taken care of first. The stubble on his face was something his father never liked, calling it less than professional, hedonistic. But every thing about Ian was carefully calculated. From the stubble, to the folds in the arms of his recently pressed shirt as it tucked neatly near his elbows. He let the tie dangle, bringing his hand up over his hair and roughing it up slightly. He did not want his father’s business, .. or his name for that matter. But the fact of the matter was that this was the world they were all dealt. They were kings and queens whether they wanted it or not. Sometimes people just had greatness thrust upon them. There were people who handled it better than others, Lucy for example. She was aware of her advantages, but also alert to the fact that if she wanted to make a name for herself instead of leaching off of her parents that she was going to have to hit the ground running. Sometimes she took it a little too seriously. Then there was Belle… he wasn’t sure she was even aware that they were at the top of the food chain. She had this naïve notion that life was just like this for everyone. Sebastian… what a drugged up waste. Ian took in a slightly annoyed breath that he was having to add this to his agenda his evening. But in all of the chaos, he had a part to play as well.
Ian stepped off the elevator, giving a nod to some of the hired security that his father always counted on. “Gentlemen,” he said briskly, making his way into the dimly lit hotel room. Ian moved his head slightly to see through the smoke, making sure that Tristan was there. Good. After being handed a scotch neat, Ian made his way over to the poker table. “I’m glad you could make it this evening,” he said, setting the glass down before sitting back in his chair. “Poker nights are pretty legendary… how often is it that we all just gamble away our trust funds..” the kid said with a slight arrogance that made Ian irritated. He wasn’t wealthy enough to be sitting here in front of Ian and be talking about money. But alas, that wasn’t the purpose of him being here. “I hear after the last poker game you decided to go to an event that some of my acquaintances were at,”. In al honesty, that group of people were probably the closest thing to friends that Ian had. But it wasn’t like him to just come out and admit that. However, he had heard certain events about that evening that he also felt he needed to address. Those girls may be his acquaintances, but they were at the top of the social hierarchy with him. Attack one of them and it was like attacking what everything they stood for represented. “Oh man,… that party was insane,” the kid said folding his cards amongst one another.
Ian sat there quietly, spinning his drink slightly on the table. “You put something in a drink that was meant for Lucy.” he stated matter of factly. “Well, I mean… that girl is rigid. I was just trying to get the party started.” he said as though it weren’t a big deal. Ian tapped his fingers against the glass, thinking of how to best state what he wanted to say. ‘’I mean those girls… they’re sort of ours for the taking, you know?”he chuckled to himself. Ian looked up from his drink, looking at the scum across the table. “You know… sex and alcohol is just a part of our life,” he agreed, giving a slight nod of our head. “However,… Lucy Astor is not the type of girl you drug in order to sleep with. No, see… you are supposed to use your charisma to actually charm girls on your own. And… we don’t go after girls in our own little pond. Makes things messy. You might piss off the wrong people,” he said, while looking at him. “Oh, come on man.. Nothing happened out of it,” the guy insisted, causing Ian to nod in agreement. “And that is a very good thing for you,” he stated lazily. “What are you going to do about it?” the guy said with a smirk of his own. “She’s not your property,” he added. Though, this piece of shit had no problem treating her like property the other night. “… If so much as one hair on her head after gets out of place,… if she goes home crying one night,.. if you ever speak to her.. hell, if she doesn’t like how a movie ends… I will make sure that your parents are able to cash in on that substantial life insurance policy they took out on you,” Ian said, lifting his eyebrow slightly. “This time I’m going to let it go. Consider this your warning,” Ian said, giving a small nod before he lift the glass to his lips and finished it. “So that’s it? You’re not going to do anything?”
Ian scoffed, “Of course not,” he said, standing up from the table. He began to adjust his tie. “That is what the hired help is for.” he said, giving a curt smile to him. “You don’t fuck with my people and get out of it without so much as a scratch… what sort of precedent would I be setting with everyone else?” Ian said, clicking his tongue in disapproval. “Oh. Scream as much as you like. I have the rooms surrounding this one blocked off. You’re officially fucked,” he said, stepping out of the room as four of the security guards he had paid off entered the room. Ian stepped outside of the room, listening to the door lock with finality. He drew a cigarette from his pocket, taking out his lighter as he heard Tristan start to protest against the men. As he took a drag he heard the first scream of anguish before taking a step away. Ian let the cigarette dangle from his lips, stepping into the elevator before he started to fix his tie again for the next board meeting he had to be a part of.
