Madeline shook her head as Tyson sent her a picture of what Ryan was getting tattooed. Time to come to the tattoo shop. Patrick was out of town and she had been planning on spending the night with Ryan. But in all honesty, if Patrick found out that she was out on the town with Tyson, Ryan and a whole bunch of other people, that looked a hell of a lot less suspicious than not being able to track down what she did at all. She groaned out of annoyance before she climbed out of Ryan’s bed and got re-dressed, getting ready to go out to the tattoo shop. The neighborhood they were in wasn’t far from the tattoo parlor so it hadn’t taken long to get there. She frowned as she saw the closed sign on the door but knocked quietly. When no one turned around she sighed and smacked her hand harder against the glass. Seriously it should not be that hard to get into a place. Thankfully someone came to open the door for her and she stepped in. “Thank you” she said, pushing her hair from her face as she looked around at everyone. Madeline lifted her eyebrow at Joel. “ You’re not getting another tattoo” she said matter of factly. ‘That’s the last thing I would ever want’ he said with mock seriousness, pushing the piece of paper behind him that had been drawn out for his tattoo on his arm. Joel threw Ryan a ‘distract her, dude’ look before he quietly stepped away. Madeline waved at Kat and Shane before she saw Tyson. “ Hey,’ she said with a tired smile before she walked over and hugged him. “ No tattoo for you?” she questioned, not really giving a rats ass if he got one. ‘ Not yet, Kat drew something out for me so I’ll get that when a chair opens up’. Madeline nodded before she looked at Ryan. Giving a small sigh, she looked at what they were doing his beautiful chest. Now covered in a tattoo. “Babe what the hell are you doing?” she asked as she walked over to look at it, kneeling down to see what the lyrics were. Outfit

Mackenzie took a hit and walked over to where Ryan was, wanting to offer it to him next since it was his and she'd gotten what she'd wanted from it. She'd seen Madeline come in and headed over to Ran too, hearing Madeline call him babe. Ryan answered her with an apologetic smile, "Getting a tattoo?" before he looked up and saw Mack staring at them both. Looking at Madeline and then back at Ryan, she blinked a few times, her face expressionless. Something was funny here. If she wasn't under the influence of so many different things she thought she might ask, but since she was too gone to really understand anyways, saying to Ryan, "Want a hit before everyone else does?" He was right, she had needed to chill out. It was just what she needed. Ryan shook his head, telling her not to worry about it and that he'd get some more later so Mack shrugged and walked over to Lance and Joel. She handed it to Lance, knowing he'd want some, "Kiersten is gonna kill both of us, I know she'll be mad she's missing this," Mack laughed a little, spacing out a bit. "Quick Joel, take a hit before your sister looks over here, this is your chance."
Shane was surprised when Kat came over, being so flirty. He really didn't know what on earth he was supposed to think. But the bottom line was, if they left this tattoo parlor tonight still broken up, at least they left things on a good note. And that would be okay with him. He was done thinking about it. If she wanted to be together, he was sure she'd let him know, otherwise, this was what she wanted and he'd have to go with it. And if he discovered this was not going to work for him,he knew where to find her. Kind of. He at least had connections. "Yeah, that would be embarrassing. I don't want to drown in my tears or anything." He let her lean into him, like it was the most natural thing in the world. He said quietly, "I should have gotten this tattoo a long time ago. But at least I have more of a reason to get it now." He yawned, feeling how tired he was actually getting. She was right, it was really getting late.

Madeline shook her head as Ryan said that he was getting a tattoo. Obviously. She leaned down to look at again. ”… I guess it’s not the worst thing you could do” she said before she pulled up a chair and sat down by him, crossing her legs. Tyson had crossed his arms and was staring between the two of them like he was trying to figure something out and Mack had just stared at them thinking god knows what before she walked away. Madeline frowned again, looking at Ryan’s chest. “ Your skin was so perfect” she said to him quietly as she tried to imagine the different times she had kissed that same exact patch of skin, and how now it would have a tattoo on it.
” Are you going home soon?” she asked, trying to sound nonchalant as she looked back at him, but gave a soft smile. He was so damn cute when he wanted to be. Or just all of the time. Madeline reached back and felt the tattoo of the star behind her ear, which she had gotten for Ryan. Patrick hated it, called it trashy, wanted her to get it removed. But she never would. Even when Ryan wasn’t with her he wasn’t really gone, and he was a part of her forever now.It sort of scared her how much she wanted him to be a part of her life forever anyways. But she couldn’t exactly talk to Ryan about that. Not when she was married. Not when she wasn’t sure about what his thoughts on marriage even were. “ I want one” she said as she looked up at the tattoo artist. ‘ What would you like?” he asked before Madeline narrowed her eyebrows in thought, “ Just a little line of something”. The tattoo artist started laughing and looked at Ryan, making some joke about Barbie dolls coming in to get tattoos. She made a confused face before she turned and looked at Mackenzie who had just joined Lance and Joel. Well that explained it. She looked back at the tattoo artist and Ryan. ’I want it to say,’I still look at you like the stars that shine’ ,she quoted knowing Blake would be pleased that someone was getting her lyrics tattooed on them.

Joel grinned as Ryan kept Madeline busy in a conversation and looked up to see Mackenzie walking up with a joint. Lance placed a kiss on her cheek and hugged her before taking it from her. He did it so easily, like he did it all the time or something. Then when they told him to take a hit, he looked over Mackenzie’s shoulder to see what Madeline was doing. She couldn’t claim he smelled like pot, cause she would too but the time they left. That wasn’t enough evidence to say he smoked it. He reached out and took it as Lance offered it to him. His first attempt was pathetic, forcing him to cough a few times before Lance had finally quit laughing long enough to explain to him how to do it. Joel shook his head after he figured it out, and held it back out towards Lance and Mackenzie till one of them took it.
Madeline seemed sufficiently distracted so Joel figured he could start chatting up the tattoo artist that was working on Shane. Besides, it looked like Shane and Kat were having a conversation anyways. And if he stood next to them and talked loud enough to the tattoo artist, then Kat and Shane could talk in somewhat privacy since no one could hear them. Maybe the forearm wasn’t the best spot for his tattoo since he probably wanted to hide it from his fans for a while, but he couldn’t think of anywhere else to put it. Lance seemed to be thinking the same thing about his Disney fans, which is why he was putting the tattoo on the side of his arm where he could cover it up with a shirt. “ You mates are like.. the worst people ever at being broken up,” Lance said over to Kat and Shane with a small shake of his head.

Kat closed her eyes tiredly against Shane’s chest, there was so much comfort that he held in his arms and he had no idea. But when he said that he should have gotten this tattoo a long time ago, and that now he had a reason to, she opened her eyes. Now she was confused. She sat up on her elbow, but still kept her closeness to him. She spoke quietly, almost below a whisper as she spoke to him.”What does that even mean? Why should you have done that? Why do you have reason to now?”. It didn’t matter how much she would ever have to smoke or drink, the one thing she could talk about soberly, even in the most drunk of situations, was how much she loved Shane.” Shane I didn’t break upwith you because I quit loving you. I still do. You’re my person. I broke up with the seriousness of it. To kind of like… take a step back. Cause we both said we didn’t want it. And we were in it. And it just seemed like,if we’re going to make that decision, then we should sort of at least like… think it out? Not pressure the other person into?... Have it be something we both want?” she questioned as she looked at him. She knew she wanted it- but that’s the thing. That’s what terrified her.
“ I mean come on dude, what did we say when we started dating? I’m not going to start forcing you into shit. I’m not going to be that girl that holds you back. Or keeps you miserable in a relationship,”.She looked over at Lance who had made a comment before she shrugged him off and laid her head back down against Shane’s chest. It wasn’t really anyone elses’ business to understand. Hell she and Shane couldn’t even understand it, how was anyone else supposed to. She watched Ryan and Madeline before she spoke quietly. “ See look at them.. they’re still friends and kind of flirty. They make it look so easy,”

Shane watched her, could see her trying to understand and asking what he meant. Shane took a deep breath. Being drunk was the only reason he'd said it in the first place and even know he was like, scolding himself for saying anything at all. "I should have gotten it a long time ago because... it.... reminds me of him. He makes me not want to waste a second of what I'm doing, because he gave it up, stupidly, and it makes me not give up on anything, and..." Shane shook his head. He didn't want to talk about it. "Even when people are gone, they don't really leave you. Ask anyone here. Ask Joel about his first tattoo. Ask Mackenzie the meaning behind the little lamb. Ask Scarlet. They'll tell you. Distance is just a minor setback. LA and New York, not so far apart." He listened to her tell him that she still loved him and why she did it. Shane understood. "Maybe..." he paused thinking, "If we're apart, we'll just see how much we don't want to be apart. I mean, are you still gonna go to LA? If that's what you wanna do... I'll be here. You know where to find me. And I'll always be thinking of you. If you don't want to be serious, that's fine. But we don't have to stop loving each other. Just do what you have to do. Whether its go back on tour, for your fans, or for you, or whether its just... getting back out to Cali. I don't want to be the person to hold you back either. But I don't want this to be the end of us either. You're my person, too. "
Shane sat back, looking at his tattoo. If he hadn't gotten it before now, he was doing it for her now. She could be all the way in China and he'd still see her in his dreams, on a regular basis. Like he said, people could go, but they never really left you. And he hoped she understood that of course he still loved her, but it was the fact that he loved her that he was letting her do what she felt she needed to do, for her. He didn't want to hold her back either, just like she didn't want to hold him back. But it didn't mean they had to not be in love and date other people. It just meant they could give each other space to go out ans do things without feeling tied down, but at the end of the day you still knew that someone, somewhere, loved you. And it was enough, to think when they were both ready to settle down, they'd still have each other. Shane wasn't planning on finding anyone else anyways.

Kat looked down instantly as Shane started talking… kind of, about his brother. She knew about it. She knew he knew she knew about it. But they’d never discussed it. He would, on his own time. Scarlet had told her a few times to let him come to terms with it, when he was ready he would share. Madeline never brought up David, Joel did all of the time, and when he did you could visually see Madeline shut herself off from the conversation, distract herself with something else. But she looked back up slowly as he started talking about their situation. So they were broken up, but … I mean, not really. She wasn’t going to date anyone else. She felt like she could still call him and end her phone calls with’ love you, Shane”. They could do their own thing. Test the waters. They didn’t want anyone else, it was just scary to be this serious. She felt like her heart was outside of her body, it was Shane. That had to be what love was, letting someone else literally take your heart and keep it with them. ” I don’t think I could stop loving you” she said quietly, keeping her eyes on him.
“ Here’s what we’ll do. I’m going on tour. For me, and for my fans. We’ll take it as a time to sort of reflect. Cause Shane.. we were serious. Are serious. This isn’t the same game we’ve played with others before. And it should be given enough respect for us to be apart, when you can’t do cute things like buy my favorite popsicles and cloud my decision, in order for us to decide if this is what we want. It just shows how much we respect each other to step back, and not try to trap each other since that’s how we both might feel someday if we don’t do this.I don’t want you to wake up someday, with me beside you, and two kids coming into our room screaming and playing, and feel like I trapped you into a life you don’t want. At the end of my tour we’ll decide. Either I’m going to California, or I stay here. And you and I ….find some way to get over this fear that we have. Cause I honestly think that the only thing stronger than my fear,is my love for you. So it’s not ‘ the end..’? “ she lifted her eyebrow as she questioned him. “Maybe more along the lines of.. to be continued” .She looked at his new tattoo before she smiled faintly and rested her chin against his shoulder. ”Either way, Madden.. you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.And I never deserved you,”.

Shane understood what Kat was saying, agreeing with her entirely and just glad that she wasn't going to completely break up with him for good. She was right, and Shane had been thinking it too, maybe some good old fashioned space and time was all they needed in order to get their priorities straight and figure out that each other was what they both really did want. He nodded, looking at her, "To be continued..." he repeated, agreeing. She went on to say that she didn't think she deserved him but Shane disagreed there. What was up with these girls and thinking they didn't deserve their guys? Blake was always pulling the, oh-i-dont-deserve-you on Logan, and Madeline had done it sometimes too back when her and Ryan were whatever they were, and now Kat. "No, don't ever say that, that's crazy. Don't ever think you don't deserve me, because you do. It's not about deserving someone, we were just meant for each other. You don't have to deserve me to be my person, the universe put us together on its own, don't you think? I just feel lucky enough to have found you when I did. I don't think I would change a thing about how we handled things. But I do think you're right. We won't know for sure unless we give ourselves space to kind of... miss each other. So. To be continued."
Shane looked around them, his arm around Katy, wishing he didn't have to let her go. But he didn't want to be selfish with her. He had to let her go so they could prove that being apart truly sucked and they wold never have to question what they had again, never have to fear it for knowing that it really was right. They needed the peace of mind. So they'd just see where life took them and he was sure everything would turn out fine. Even Mack and Riley would get through all their stuff, even with some tattoos along the way. And As much as Madeline and Ryan wanted to avoid each other, no marriage was going to stop them from just being there for each other. They spent to much time leaning on one another to just let each other go so quickly, not over a simple misunderstanding. Everyone had stuff to deal with, but Shane kind of felt like it all panned out in the end anyways.
