Lilah pulled on her knee length boot over her jeans before she placed her hands on her knees and stood up away from the locker room bench. Meeting Zach hadn’t exactly been the moment she thought it would be. But, honestly the kid was awesome. He was a hell of a lot of fun to fight with at the gym since they were both able to teach each other different tips. Street style, government style. At first she hadn’t thought of him being a friend, but after they were in his place for hours, going every single detail there was that brought them into eachothers lives, it was pretty obvious that was exactly what it would be. They fought together, went to the shooting range, tried out that new Indian restaurant a couple of blocks from his place. It didn’t matter that he worked on the streets and she worked in, metaphorically, ‘the office’. He was a good guy, and she was glad that she had gotten to know him. That being said she knew not everyone would feel that way about their friendship and it was important to keep it private from both of their places of work. After adjusting her hair while she looked in the mirror, Lilah made her way out of the locker room, catching up with Zach as he made his way out! “ Zach!” she called out before catching up with him. “ Hey.. so about tomorrow night. I know that Scarlet is attending a banquet at Columbia and is going to be out for a couple of hours.. she’s planning on making you a surprise dinner when she gets home but um.. act surprised. Anyways, did you want to go catch that new Liam Neeson movie?” she asked, offering a small smile. Scarlet was cool and go with the flow, but take her to a Liam Neeson movie and she’d be checking out the actors looks. Not his fighting techniques. After they talked for a few more minutes she wrapped her arms around him in a hug and waved goodbye, turning in the opposite direction he was to head home.
Lilah placed her earphones in her ears and scrolled down to her Black Keys playlist before she placed her iPod in her back pocket and continued to walk down the streets of New York. The more she thought about it the more her friendship with Zach just made sense. They could offer each other information about Scarlet and her surroundings that they might not be able to find out otherwise. Whoever they worked for be damned, they had a common factor that was far more important. About an hour later she had walked through Central Park, and had stopped to get herself a tall cup of chai tea. She was turning the corner towards her building when she ran straight into somebody, causing her to spill her tea all of herself and just a small amount on them. “ Son of a bitch!” she yelled out loudly, knowing that the music in her ears was causing her to yell a bit louder than normally. Not to mention, chai tea was hot at shit. “ God…. Damnit!” she said, dropping the cup from her hand completely and pulling her shirt away from her stomach just to get the heat away from her skin. ‘ Oh my apologies, I didn’t see you there,” his accent spilled out, causing Lilah to lower the earphone from her ears. Body that was tight like a brick wall, and an accent? And God himself could strike her down with lightning right now if he wasn’t the most handsome man she’d ever seen in her entire life. “ Oh,” she said, giving a small nod. “ Grool” she said before coughing to herself quietly, which emerged into a larger cough to try and cover up the original cough with. “ Right well.. “ she started off, trying to think of a way that she could turn this situation around and be on her merry little way.
“ Well I was just going to get some lunch, I could buy you another coffee,” he said again, that accent infecting her brain again. “ It’s tea…” she said, giving him a look like he was crazy before she realized something. He was attractive. And foreign. And offering to buy her a new coffee. What next? See, when it came to the ‘Harris’ girls an aversion to relationships had always been something they had in common. But Scarlet’s was a product of not wanting a relationship at all. Lilah just knew that it made her act like a damn fool and unfocused on work. She’d had plenty of relationships. But a guy that looked like this one? He was already making her lose IQ points. “ Sorry…mate. But uh, I don’t really have time for it. You know.. sight seeing. Good ol’ big apple. Crikey… look at the time…” she said without looking at any type of clock , “ Best be on my way,.. g’day mate.” she said, punching his arm awkwardly in the shoulder before she turned and went back around the corner she came from. ‘ What the fuck’ she mouthed to herself quietly as she headed towards the back of the apartment building. Meeting a guy and getting to know him was so scary that it had led her to faking being a tourist? A tourist. Really? Lilah sighed, having snuck in through the back of the building.
Once she reached her floor again she narrowed her eyebrows as she saw that there were boxes on the door opposite of her own. Since when did Margaret move out? She was such a good neighbor. Old. Quiet. Never made any noise. Didn’t have pets. Her door didn’t open and close all hours of the night. Now who was moving in? Probably some loud, annoying, animal loving psycho. No harm in getting to know your neighbor, right? Lilah looked over both of her shoulders to make sure no one was coming down the hallway. She clicked her tongue quietly as she clapped her hands together and walked over to the boxes, trying to casually open the lid to one of the boxes. She stood on her toes to look inside. Boxers. Various t-shirts. An alarm clock. After she moved one of the boxers she tilted her head. A Box. Of.. condoms. Awesome. “ God damnit.. he’s gonna be all sorts of noisy..” she said out of frustration before she heard the elevator opening onto their floor. Lilah reached for her keys quickly and ran over to her door where she stood, trying to locate the right key for her lock.
