Tyler raised his eyebrows but smiled when she said they would stop in the morning. Well that was a green light. He was all for green lights. Kayla leaned up to kiss him, finding the band of his boxers and Tyler shrugged, “I don’t know, you might have to refresh my memory about fairness.” Kayla mentioned him climbing through her window but he just grinned, “What, me? I climb through with no intentions, what kind of guy do you think I am Garrity?” Tyler teased her as she started pushing his boxers off and was talking to him, though Tyler understood what she meant as he continued to kiss her neck, kicking his boxers off. He felt the same, he’d never really wanted her like this before but, since he did, it was really new. Like getting a new toy, or going somewhere you’d never been before. Like going into uncharted territory, it was exciting and he could feel his pulse starting to quicken just anticipating what she was suggesting. Kayla’s lips found his again and she was reaching for something, but Tyler wasn’t sure what she was doing until he realized, just before she brought the package between them. Of course, duh. Good thinking on her part. Not that he probably wouldn’t have eventually remembered, better sooner than later though. She always his smarter half. Tyler knew he probably looked baffled for about half a second, his mouth falling slightly open upon hearing what she was saying. He’d never heard her talk like that but he wasn’t complaining at all. It was just like they were racing for the cliff, completely sober, two hearts beating together, and the reality of what they were doing felt so real it was like all his senses were heightened. Tyler smiled against her lips, feeling her tug on his bottom lip, enjoying the moment and whatever else she was touching. She needed him. Sure they had always needed each other, but she was suggesting she needed him in a way she’d never before and that was quite possibly the single hottest thing she’d ever said, hands down. Well, she didn’t need to tell him twice.
Tyler would normally wonder if she was sure about this, but they were sober; Kayla didn’t do anything sober that she wasn’t sure about. Tyler sat up, pulling her up with him where they were sitting in the middle of the bed, her legs still wrapped around him slightly. He opened the package, laughing slightly, “Things have changed since our bath tub days.” Tyler tossed the wrapper aside, moving one arm around her waist and the other into the side of her hair, resting his forehead against hers. There were so many reasons not to do this and yet none of them seemed convincing enough to stop them. Because at the same time, there didn’t feel like there was anything wrong with what they were doing. They were best friends, knew everything about each other, why not just extend their closeness? If this had been weird in any way they wouldn’t have gotten this far, would have stopped. But they hadn’t, because it was somehow the most comfortable thing, to be here with Kayla, looking into her eyes, searching for anything to stop them, but finding nothing. And he didn’t want to find anything anyways. Tyler knew everything about this girl the way she knew things about him, her favorite color, her first Broadway show, the exact way she had felt about it, he knew what to do to make her feel better when she was sick, knew exactly how she felt about her mom’s fiancé. He knew her aspirations and her dreams, completely supported them really, knew all of her fears right down to her deepest, darkest one. He knew she’d never done this with anyone, this was her first time. And yet that didn’t bother him. It was just one more thing he could share with her, like the way they shared everything, just one more thing to open her eyes to. Tyler leaned in to kiss her, his fingers grazing her jaw before finding her chin in his hand, kissing her softly. To be honest he never really understood what she was waiting for, why she hadn’t slept with anyone up to this point. She had guys lining up to date her, any guy would probably love to be in his shoes right now. Maybe she was waiting for it to be special or something. Tyler thought that was a tall order to fill for most guys, trying to make it perfect when you knew that was what she was hoping for. Especially if you cared enough about her to give a shit about making it special. He just wanted her to feel like it was worth whatever she had been waiting for, that she’d look back on this as a positive, if he could somehow make that happen. If he could be that guy that made waiting worth it. Another good memory. Because even as only her best friend, disappointing her wasn’t an option.
