Luke thanked the doorman at the door of Anabelle's hotel in New York where he now found himself on a whim. He didn't really get what it was about her, they just clicked. Maybe ti was because they were both southern, sharing values and views and how things should be. And he couldn't help but feel like he was about to start this really big important chapter of his life, and dammit he knew that she was responsible for it. He'd spend so much of his adult life just 'getting by' and he'd been generally okay with it. Stress free, living a good bachelor life, but lately her knew he was itching for more. He needed more out of life, more fulfillment. And Anabelle had handed that to him on a silver platter. And he'd agreed, just like that, to go on tour with her. And why shouldn't he? He knew he was a hell of a singer, a fun performer, and he loved music. He knew he could write music if he tried real hard. He knew he could be exactly what Anabelle said he was capable of. And maybe that was the initial thing to draw him in, because she'd shown so much faith in him from the get go. But that wasn't what kept him, no. What kept him around was her and her southern charm. It was just that, completely charming. A good girl, with that undercover rebel side she didn't even know she had. And that was why he was here in New York tonight when he was supposed to be here tomorrow. Because frankly, he couldn't wait until tomorrow. This girl had waltzed into his life at the exact moment he was needing it, and now she needed someone. And she was adorable in that way only Miss Anabelle hart could be. Luke made his way to her hotel room, knocking on the door and waited, a single duffel bag in his hand. Luke hadn't booked a room, but he'd been assured at the desk that they had vacancies and he could get one at any time tonight if he wanted one. Luke waited still, until finally Anabelle answered the door and he smiled at her brightly. "hey there," he said, lifting his duffel bag slightly, "I heard you were needing some company tonight."

Anabelle scrunched her nose as she looked over the hotel menu list. She’d had a few cocktails.. well.. a good percentage of the bottle. And now it had come to her attention that she was hungry. Starving actually. So she’d settled for ordering a double bacon cheeseburger with extra curly fries with cheese and jalapenos. She was going to wait to order though, seeing as how she was hoping that no one else would be ordering from the kitchen if it was later at night and she didn’t want to put the cooks through a rush when it wasn’t necessary. So over the next few hours she distracted herself, watched a scary movie, poured herself a few more drinks. Just when she was about to doze off there was a knock at the door. Anabelle widened her eyes, remembering the double cheeseburger and curly fries. “ Yum.” she muttered to herself before she sat up and put on a robe over her babydoll. She tied the strings of it at the side as she made her way over to the door. “ Coming!” she said as she picked up her wallet so that she could tip whoever was bringing her the food. Anabelle was looking down at her wallet as she opened the door before she looked up at gasped, looking at the person in front of her. “ Holy crap on a cracker!” she said excitedly as she dropped the wallet down to the side and stepped to him, immediately wrapping her arms around him in a hug. “ Bless your heart you got on a plane cause of this silly mess?” she asked as she started to take his duffel bag from him to bring into the room. “ How was your flight? Did you eat? Are you hungry.. I ordered a burger we can share. Do you want a drink?” she asked, fluttering her questions quickly as she untied the side of her robe and let it slip off over her shoulders before she climbed back onto the bed and looked over at the television, picking up the remote to mute the sound before she smiled back over at him. “ That was mighty nice of you to come here tonight.. I think it’s safe to say we’ll have each others backs on tour,”

Luke knew he shouldn't have been surprised when she hugged him, which was why he wasn't, and hugged her back laughing, "Well, of course I did, you being in a hotel room by yourself, whats a few hours earlier?" Luke let her take his bang and followed her inside, letting the door shut behind him him. He looked around, taking in the mostly gone bottle, the TV, she was alright in those departments. He didn't know how she dealt with break ups and such. Luke grinned, having to ponder all those questions because he ad to admit he was still intoxicated, having decided to have a drink on the place too. "Well, my flight was great, I haven't eaten, yes I am hungry, I'd love to share a burger, and a drink would be great. Did I forget to answer something?" That was about the time she took her robe off only to reveal a little blue baby doll that made his heart go boom boom and he thought, good god almighty. He watched her small frame climb back on the bed and mute the TV and Luke shrugged, "Well, you know I got your back, you've had mine, there's no doubt about that." Luke kicked his shoes off and walked over sitting down on the bed and swung his legs up to lay beside her, "So on this bus on tour, I get my very own bunk? And what about you, you got your own bunk too?" he asked, willing himself to not stare at her in the outfit she had on, though he really did want to.

Anabelle smiled as he rattled off the answers to her questions and gave a small nod. “ Got em all” she said with a slight shake of her head. “ Had your back?” she questioned as she looked up at him as he started to kick his shoes off. “ I don’t know if I’d say that.. I just saw an opportunity and took it. Though it was pretty brave on my part. Those girls look pretty territorial over you,” she said out of amusement before she smiled softly. Anabelle looked over at him as he laid down on the bed, making himself just as comfortable as Hunter did. “ Oh!” she said, just realizing that one of the answers to her questions was that he would take a drink. “ Hang on sugar” she said, placing her hands on the mattress before she climbed out of it and went to go make them each a drink, pouring UV cake into each of the cups at a large ratio in comparison to the small splash of sprite she put in each. Anabelle waltzed herself back over to the bed before she handed him his drink, finishing half of her own before she set the paper cup down on the nightstand. “ Oh my that’s right you’ve never been on a tour bus. Don’t worry, it’s my first time too” she said as she laid down. “ We each get a bunk… and they are.. the tiniest things” she said while laughing. Anabelle gathered her hair, pulling it to one side of her neck as she laid down. “ You’ll have to lay perfectly still.” she said as she placed her arms down at her side to pantomime how they would have to sleep. “ You get your own bunk.. you can have your own pillow too” she said jokingly as she turned so that she was laying on her side to face him. “ Anything else you want Luke Bryan? “ she asked before moving the hair from her face so she could catch a glimpse of him.

Luke watched her get up from bed and make him a drink, which he thanked her for and took a drink as she settled back in. Luke made a face and then laughed, “This tastes like birthday cake. I wasn’t expecting that.” Luke set his drink down on the table on his side of the bed, and then brought his hands up behind his head as she explained about the bunk situation, “Lay perfectly still, what so I don’t fall out? DO you see me? My main question is, am I going to fit in a bunk,” he laughed. All 6’2 of him had better fit, or he was going to have a problem. Luke brought his arms down to his sides too, laying stiff as a bored, “I don’t know if I can sleep like this, I might roll on out,” he joked, “But at least I get my own pillow.” Though I wouldn't mind sharing, he thought to himself. Luke rolled over on his side and rested his head in his hand, pondering her question, “What else do I want?” Luke thought about that for a second, his eyes lingering for a moment on her legs as they scanned up her body and stopped on her face, “I think I would like to get out of this hotel room.” Luke stood up and pulled one of her bags closer to himself, unzipping it and pulled out what looked like an old pair of jeans, tossing then to her, “Here, throw these on. I didn’t come all the way to New York to sit in a hotel room, not if we’re hanging out,” he laughed, shrugging. But he was right, he could have come tomorrow and did what they were supposed, tour the label, show him some sites, talk tour stuff, but he hadn’t. He come tonight when he knew she was alone and in need of something to do. So why not just get out of here, out of the city, and do something that he knew both of them needed?

“Usually I drink whiskey but when I went into the liquor store and said I had just gotten into a break up this is what the boys offered me,” she said as she narrowed her eyes at him and took the last few sips from her own cup before she set the empty plastic Dixie cup down. Anabelle laughed, placing her face into her pillow as he was asking whether or not he would fit in a bunk. “ Well Ryan O’Neil finds a way so I think you’ll manage” she said while laughing but then gave a small shrug of her shoulder, “ But there is a master bed in the very back that you are more than welcome to sleep in if you want to” she said as she placed her hand against the side of her neck. She narrowed her eyebrows, smiling slightly after she had asked him what he wanted and his eyes trailed off. He probably had to think about it for a bit, how often did people actually get asked what they wanted? But then she lifted her eyebrows. He wanted to get out of the hotel room? But her burger… And just like that he was getting up, throwing blue jeans in her direction. “ Right now?” she said as she stood up before pulling the blue jeans on under her baby doll. Anabelle walked over to the suitcase and took out a baggy t-shirt before putting her hair up in a messy bun. “ We better stop and get something to eat, sugar. And.. you should probably be the one to drive my truck,” she said as she held her truck keys out to him. Once he took them Anabelle looked down at the loose fabric of her t-shirt, tying it into a knot at the side of her hip before she looked back up at him. “ I know where we can go…” she said before smiling slowly. Anabelle picked up her cowboy boots, pulling them on a bit wobbily before she held onto his arm to keep herself up straight. “When we stop to get something to eat we need to get whiskey,” she said as she picked up her iPod so they would have music to listen to before she made her way out of the hotel room. “ Oh!” she said, running back in quickly to write an apology note for being gone whenever they delivered the burger and taping a twenty dollar bill to the note, telling them to keep the change. Finally she stepped away from the door and made her way down to her truck in the parking lot, rushing to open her door before Luke could. Once she was in the car she hooked her iPod up, putting BBQ Stain on so that when he started the truck one of her all time favorite songs would blare through the speaker. Anabelle watched him as he got into the truck, noticing his arms as he buckled himself in and reached forward to start the truck. They really were nice.. muscular she would say even, toned.. appealing.. which was such a strange thing to notice. At least for Anabelle it was.

Luke laughed at her bewildered face, “Yes right now,” grabbing his wallet from his bag and looked back at her. “You’ve known me for two days and I already get to drive your truck? I feel pretty special.” He joked. It was always a thing when a guy let his girls drive his truck so this being the other way around was slightly funny. Luke took the truck keys and watched her pull her boots on. Ooh. There was something about boots that kinda drove him wild but she didn’t need to know that. “Sure thing, whiskey it is.” Luke smiled at the note and money she left and followed her down to the truck, not letting him open the door like he would have so he climbed in, buckling up and started the truck, noticing her watching him. “I love this song,” he smiled, pulling her truck out onto the street, singing the song like he’d wrote it himself. But hey, how many times had be sing this? Probably dozens. “Alright first things first, the lady needs some whiskey, but do you mind if I ask what direction are we headed?” Anabelle indicated they were headed out, like, out of the city, so he just shrugged, easing her truck on to highway and away from all the lights and skyscrapers. It really was something to see, much like Nashville much on a so much bigger scale. As they got farther from the chaos that was New York at night, Luke found a convenience store where they could get some whiskey, telling her to sit tight and he’d be right back. He locked her in the truck and went to get some and was back in a flash. “So eventually, you might have to tell me where we are headed. Though I have to admit that as much as I was looking forward to seeing the city, I’m a little glad to be out of it. New York is a little overwhelming.”

For the first time in her entire life the song BBQ Stain was playing and she was finding herself distracted from being able to sing it. Luke really did have a great voice. Which was obviously what had drawn her to him to ask him to go on tour with her, that had been the thing she needed from him. But riding in the truck, listening to some good country music might be exactly what she needed fresh off of a break up. When they parked at the convenience store she couldn’t help but shake her head at him as he hurried off inside and made just as quick time coming back. Anabelle leaned over in the truck to open the driver side door for him as he came back to it. “ You didn’t need to buy that, I’m going to have to make good with you for that,” she said, already planning out a full blown meal that she could offer to him to even try and make a mends for him doing something so nice as to buyin’ her whiskey. She looked over at him as he suggested that New York was a little bit overwhelming, “ Well I suppose that depends on who you’re sharin’ New York with” she said as she twisted the cap off of the whiskey bottle. After pointing out the directions to where they were headed, Anabelle lifted her hand up to the messy bun that her hair was in before pulling it down, shaking her fingers into the side of her hair so that it fell over her shoulders. She jumped up excitedly thinkin’ about a song that her and Luke both might be able to enjoy before she put on ‘ All my exes live in texas’ singing along to the song with her hands up as far as she could reach them as she sang out the obvious lyric, ‘ that’s why I reside in Tennessee’. An hour outside of the city and they had made it to a deserted little lake before Anabelle hooked her iPod up to the speaker system and crawled out of the passenger side window and hopped down onto the dirt. It was always better to walk on dirt than concrete. Anabelle set her whiskey bottle down on the frame of the bed of the truck before she climbed in, taking the blanket in the corner and laying it out before she popped the tailgate of the truck down and lowered it so they could sit off the edge of it. “ This is for you by the way,” she said to him, gesturing to the truck. “ I mean.. it was mighty nice of you to drop everything and come on tour with me. I didn’t want you puttin’ miles on your truck so I convinced them to let me bring my truck on tour that way if you ever want to get out of the tour bus.. get back to your roots. Well she’s yours. It's the least I could do to say thank you for coming with me. And.. I just want you to know that I am never going to ask you to change.. I have a feeling you're perfect exactly the way you are.” she said before she hopped into the back of the truck and sat on the blanket, reaching over to pick up the bottle of whiskey. After taking a few drinks she set it back down, listening as the familiar Check Yes Or No came on and Anabelle looked over at Luke. He’d agreed to go on tour with her, so really what she was about to ask him shouldn’t scare her at all. And yet here she was hesitating. Anabelle narrowed her eyebrows at the unfamiliar feeling before she coughed, trying to clear her throat from whatever was making her all twitterpatted. “ Luke you wouldn’t want to dance with me would you?” she asked hesitantly before offering the whiskey bottle out to him. Asking him to spend six months with her on tour she had done with no problem. Sitting on the back of her tailgate asking him to dance made her feel like she was hooked up to some electrical wires and the voltage was set to high.

Luke could not help but grin when he realized where Anabelle had taken them. Like home away from home, just because she was currently living in the city didn’t mean they couldn’t get out and go somewhere they both knew. She had taken them to a little deserted lake, far from all the city lights. Perfect because they were just far enough to realize that the night sky held ten times as many stars as it led on when you were in under the city lights. Luke hopped out and followed her ‘round back, stopping and staring at her, “Pardon? Did you just say you were giving me this truck?” he asked incredulously, “I don’t even know if I can morally accept that but, your offer was so nice…” he pondered. He felt it would be rude to flat out turn down such a kind offer so her added, “Well in the case that I get an itchin’ to drive a Chevy instead of ride on the bus, you are more than welcome to join me.” Luke propped himself up on the tailgate, letting his legs dangle off the edge and took the bottle of whiskey from her graciously, “Thank you,” and took a sip before handing it back and looked out over the lake. There wasn’t a ripple to be seen across it. Luke again, thought to admit he loved this song, singing the lyrics out loud to himself, “Now we're grown up and she's my wife, still like two kids with stars in our eyes,” with that George Strait drawl he’d perfected by like, age 12 or something ridiculous. Luke looked over at her when she asked him if he would dance with her, smiling a small, crooked smile, “Well since you asked so nicely I don’t think I can refuse.” Luke stood up on the tailgate, pulling her up with him as the song changed, Jason Aldean’s ‘She’s Country’. Luke really didn’t know what it was about himself and dancing, all he knew was you put ton some good music and his hips just started goin’. And it could be any music, really. Country was always preference, but he’d get down to anything. He just had hips that wouldn’t quit when it came to dancing apparently.

Anabelle smiled as he seemed to be going along with the idea of her giving him his truck, “ Well I reckon if I get the hankering to ride in your truck I’ll be right there in the passenger seat” she said as she placed her hands down on the bed of the truck. She was distracted again, hearing the silkiness of his voice as she looked over at him. “ There a song in the world you can’t sing, handsome?” she asked. Every song he sang he did better than the original. Being from the south she had been around plenty of people who thought that they were capable of singing country music and making just as good a livin’ as Dolly and Hank. But this boy.. there was something about this boy. She knew it the moment she had laid eyes on him. He was going to be somebody. He already was. There was so much she wanted to know about him. The mistakes he’d made, the triumphs life had given him, what exactly led him to the bar that night, how he had planted himself right into her world when she least expected it. Anabelle bit the side of her lip to try and keep from smiling like a fool as he pulled her up onto her feet. When the song changed to something more upbeat Anabelle couldn’t help but smile, relaxing at the idea that she didn’t have to slow dance just yet. There was still drinking to be done. But before she had time to acclimate she looked over at him as he was already wiggling his hips, giving a fresh reminder to what he had been doing at his little show the other night. The blush rose to her cheeks immediately as she watched him before looking away, trying to keep her eyes away from the way his hips moved. It was almost like she could feel her heart beating in her throat before she decided to lick her lips and look back up at him. “ I think you must be broken because my hips sure don’t move like that,” she said jokingly as she stiffly tried to shake them back and forth. After a few poor attempts she leaned down, picking up the bottle of whiskey before she guzzled down a few gulps. Upon turning around Anabelle reached up, swiftly taking his hat off of his head before she placed it on her own. “ Dance contest,” she said sarcastically, since they could both see that he was more apt to dancing than she was. Even so, this was a good song and it did make her want to lift her hands up in the air and just shake, even if she didn’t know how to. “ Your hat is on the line.. winner takes all” she said, pulling it down so it was snug on her head before she stepped in closer to him. Well if he was going to move those hips anyways there didn’t seem to be any problem in moving a little closer. How else was she supposed to learn.

Luke laughed out loud when Anabelle said that her hips didn't move like that and he shook his head in disagreement, "Sure they do, everybody's do." Luke figured, everybody could dance like that if they wanted, it was just a matter of loosening up, which, judging by the large gulp of whiskey she had downed, loosening up might not be a problem. Plus it was sort of cute because normally, he knew exactly what kind of reaction his dancing got from women, but Anabelle was just blushin' and had turned away. Now wasn't that somethin'. Not many women still got embarrassed about stuff like that, women were so forward these days. Famous or not, Luke could tell she was a good country girl and, even though a lot of days it seemed he could charm the pants off anyone, he wasn't looking for a one nighter, he just wanted a good girl. A southern belle. Was that so much to ask. Luke faked an exaggerated gasp when Anabelle took his hat off his head and placed it on her own, "Uh oh, I'm in trouble. I know you didn't just steal my hat." He grinned though, rubbing his hand over his hair that was surely matted down since he hardly ever took his hat off unless he was sleeping or showering, "Alright, dance contest. Go on now, show me what you got then," he laughed. Anabelle had moved closer to him, letting loose a bit and Luke shook his head, there was just something about a girl dancing on the tailgate of a truck that just got him. With boots and flannel, some whiskey and some country music. Where could you honestly go wrong? Luke moved closer to her and placed one hand on her hip, the other taking the whiskey and he took a drink, feeling her hips moving to the music. Nope, nothing got better than this, "You lied to me, you said you couldn't move your hips like that," he teased, "And I don't normally let people take my hat but I gotta admit you look pretty damn cute in it."

Anabelle had done her fair share of drinking what was in that bottle of UV Vodka. And now they had been taking pulls from the whiskey. If she could gage herself on a scale of 1-10 for being drunk she would probably say R. Anabelle felt the smile across her lips as he placed his hand on her hip. Well.. that felt nice. But with it, came an ever darker blush as she looked down, almost embarrassed to meet his gaze. He must think she was so childish. It was just she didn’t take things like this lightly. And here they were, drinking in the back of a truck. The way his hips moved put a lump in her throat, making it just ever so slightly more difficult to breathe. “ Maybe you win” she said through her breath before she took in a deep breath and took a small step back from him. Anabelle brought her hand up to her forehead, feeling how warm it was from blushing, when she remembered the lake behind them. She turned to look over her shoulder, the water seemed so inviting. “ Turn around,” she said, looking up to Luke before she smiled. Anabelle waited until his back was to her before she reached down and lifted her shirt off of her skin. After unbuttoning her jean shorts she pushed them down over hips and hopped off the tailgate. She hurried over to the water, keeping her boots on until the last minute when she slipped out of the and went into the water. It wasn’t until she as shoulder deep into the water that she turned back to look at the figure standing in the back of the truck. “ Go on now, sugar” she said, trying to get his attention.

Anabelle had to be just the cutest thing. Blushing like that when he touched her. And he’d seen her on stage, she wasn’t shy, not at all. For some reason he had some kind of effect on her, and he liked that because she had an effect on him too. She kind made his heart get all gooey and melty, and little sparks in the pit of his stomach when their eyes met. Yeah, he was sold, game over. Luke figured she was probably just as gorgeous on a bad day, but also figured that she probably hardly ever had those anyways. It was just the fact that he knew there were pretty women all over the place, but Anabelle was beautiful in all the ways other girls wished they could be. Selfless, kind, happy, encouraging. That was beautiful to him. She was pure honey on a summer day. Luke laughed and leaned down closer to her face, saying in a more conversational tone, “Oh do I?” he asked, smiling. Well, now that couldn’t be true, one day he was determined to make sure she won a dance contest. Luke let her go, watching her take a step back and figured it was good to give them both a moment of mercy. He could tell he was making her flustered and though he looked a bit more contained on the outside, his heart was just a racin’. Luke furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, but grinned anyways, curiously, “Alright, I’ll turn around…” He did as he was told, turned around and waited. Of course he wanted to sneak a peek at whatever she was up to, but he kept his word. He felt her climb off the truck and heard the water, knowing she had gotten in. Well, he thought, that was just fine. He could go for a dip. Luke heard her say he could turn around so he did, assessing the situation. Which meant he took into account her shirt and shorts that were in the back of the truck and no longer on her. Luke smiled and laughed out loud, setting the whiskey down on the tailgate and hopped down, kicking his shoes off and his socks, leaving them behind as he headed for the water, “I was wondering if we might end up in the water,” he commented as he got closer to her. As he got closer to the edge and out from under the trees, the moon seemed a lot brighter and he reached down and pulled his shirt off over his head. Luke unbuttoned his jeans and let them fall off his hips, stepping out of them, “How’s the water?” and then waded into the water. It wasn’t as cold as he expected it to be. Luke got closer to her, though up to her shoulders it was just halfway over his torso. "I see you took off everything but my hat," he laughed, "You take good care of it. That is a fine hat you have on there."

Anabelle brought her hand up out of the water, clutching onto the hat before she adjusted it and waited for him to come into the water. She smiled as she watched him hop off the back of the truck and head towards the water. It wasn’t until he started taking his shirt off that she froze completely. Mistake. Cooling off in the water may not have actually been cooling off. Anabelle felt her jaw fall slightly as he made his way over to her. Once he stepped up to her, she was so short that it seemed like he was almost barely in the water and she was almost completely submersed. She dropped her eyes down to his chest, blinking a bit before she said point blankly. “ Good god almighty..” she said before bringing her hand up to her head again. He’d mentioned his hat and she was only slightly aware she was still wearing it. “ It looks better on you anyways,” she said in her slight drawl before she took it off and reached her hand up into the air to place it back on his head. Anabelle gave a small frown as she looked back up at him. “ There it is again. It’s like a pain in my chest. And then my stomach gets all fluttery,” she said as she placed her hand over her stomach under the water. “ Oh my gosh here,” she said before taking his hand, she brought it up the top of her chest over her heart, probably closer to her neck. “ I mean do you feel that? That’s crazy right. I think I’m coming down with something” she said quietly to herself as she questioned what it could be.

Luke smiled when she watched him, well at least she didn’t hide what she was thinking very easily. It made reading her not so bad sometimes, not like some girls who he swore just confused you to give you a run for your money. Luke frowned slightly when she took his hat off and placed it back on his head. Which was weird, because usually he was always glad to get it back. Luke shook his head, “Oh I assure you it doesn’t.” Never thought he’d be saying his own hat looked better on a woman. Not just any woman though, just her. Luke grinned, just funny that she was so open about what she was feeling and yet she for some reason didn’t understand herself. “All fluttery?” It was like a magic crystal ball that showed him all he needed to know, he could not possibly make her that nervous though, could he? Luke let her take his hand and placed it over her heart, and he laughed again, shaking his head at her, “Anabelle I don’t think you’re coming down with anything, I don’t feel anything. Unless you count your heart, which sure is beating real fast.” Luke shrugged, taking her hand and placed it over his heart, “Well how ‘bout mine, does mine feel alright? Or should I be concerned?” Luke lowered himself in the water some, watching her face while he waited for her diagnosis, nice to be on her level. And since they were so close anyways, his hands somehow found their way to her waist, floating closer to her, “So. Tell me, what’s a girl like you do in the big city? Or do yo make regular trips out here?” Luke shrugged, “I don’t know, the city is fun, but the city doesn’t have stars like it does out here.”
