Tyler couldn’t come home. Kayla knew he wanted to, but she also knew she would never be able to forgive herself if she let him. This was the first time he was doing something that he was proud of. And she wasn’t going to take that away from him. She could however, use the small amount of free time she had from the show to come to him. She’d told him that they couldn’t get back together with him over the phone or computer, but that left the door open for them getting back together when they saw each other again. Even if that was a month from now. But did either of them really want to wait that long? She knew she didn’t, especially since her heart felt like it was physically aching from his absence. Not just his absence from the states, but her life in general. He’d made more effort to stay in contact than she had. But that’s because she was convinced she had to get over him. He had never wavered in the fact that he thought that they belonged together. He’d been so sure of it. There wasn’t room for question – and he never quit telling people that they were together, even when she was saying they weren’t. For the first time, it seemed he was more prepared and knew how to handle the situation better than she did. But she had turned off her computer that night. Not telling him she loved him. Instead, she’d left her apartment, gone and spoken to his mother, gotten rid of some of the clothes she didn’t appreciate or like of his and eventually made her way to the airport. Joel Foster might be a charming little jerk sometimes, but when it boiled down to it, he was a good friend. He always had reasons it seemed. Thankfully Joel had agreed to give Tyler the night off from the show. Though, she wasn’t sure how he had convinced him to not play. With everything going on, that was probably what Tyler needed most : to be able to skateboard, and then be able to jam out with his friends. And Joel was taking that away from him. Plus, usually they stayed on the tour bus but Joel had gotten them hotel rooms, telling Tyler that he didn’t want to room with him and neither did Max and to leave them alone for the night. She’d gotten to the hotel, picked up the room key that Joel left waiting for her at the front desk and made her way to the front. When she entered the room, she could see that Tyler had been there already to drop his things off. His skateboard was gone. Maybe he’d gone to clear his head. She looked at the clock on the nightstand. She probably didn’t have much time. Kayla pulled her luggage to the window of the balcony and started unpacking quickly. She’d brought a few of his favorite snacks for the night, figuring they would spend some time in. Or maybe he would want to go out and check out the town. Kayla pushed her hair behind her ear, picking up the silk and lace fabric of her teddy before tossing it on the edge of the bed and continuing to unpack. She took out the box of captain crunch, setting it on the nightstand before she climbed over the bed and went to the door at the sound of the knock. She’d asked for rose petals to be delivered, and hopefully she still had time to set everything up. Kayla kicked the door shut with her foot after tipping the delivery man and started to spread the rose petals across the floor and bed. Romance wasn’t just for girls. Plus it would smell nice, or atleast he would think it was a nice gesture, maybe. Hopefully. Kayla went back into her luggage, taking out the large number of candles and spreading them across the room and counters. Hopefully he would be back in soon so that the candle wax didn’t devour the surfaces. She scrunched her nose, prancing around the hotel room as she lit each and every one. Kayla took in a deep breath, pushing her hair away from the frame of her face as she turned to watch the door. Outfit

Tyler had to admit that even though traveling around the world was really bomb and he got to spend all his time skateboarding, playing music and making videos, other countries were still weird as fuck. Spain was weird. It was old. And new. And confusing. Like his life. Old things meshing with new things and getting confusing. Also, he was still reeling a little from last night. The past few months had been miserable. He just didn't understand why Kayla was acting like this. He did get it, she wanted him to be able to do stuff without her holding him back, but that was her opinion. She never actually asked him if she was a hindrance. He tried to tell her he was worse off with her not around. Being broken up meant he was unfocused and lonely, and felt like he was forgetting something all the time. He didn't need to be single in order to figure out what he was doing. He needed Kayla to be there to help him along the way. He needed her in his life right now, not out of it. And she'd abandoned him. Which was why he convinced himself they weren't broken up. It got him through the day. Also, even if they were broken up, Tyler swore that if it ever happened, they would keep their friendship, but that wasn't even there to fall back on because he couldn't get a hold of her. He had been beginning to think she really didn't want him in her life. Which frankly, was a little terrifying to Tyler. His life didn't make sense when he wasn't including her in all his plans. But then she released that song and video, and it was like she was saying the opposite, that he needed to man up and be with her... but hadn't he been trying? She wouldn't talk to him. Then he finally got her talking and she refused to get back together with him unless it was in person. But then she forbid him from coming home. So now he was stuck in limbo with the small shred of hope that when he DID come home, she wouldn't push him out of her life anymore. He just needed her. He couldn't figure out which part of that he didn't understand. Her being gone was making him worse off, not better. But today, things were better. He was hopeful at least. Naive, maybe. An idiot, probably. But hopeful. It was the only thing he had to hold onto right now before he spiraled into sad Tyler land. Of course today had been kind of shitty anyways, because he was thinking about Kayla and then Joel had banned him from performing and then no one wanted to bunk with him at the hotel. He'd worked on Dani's video for most of the morning before deciding he needed fresh air. Had gotten lunch. Had to text Dani when the food showed up was not what he ordered. He got a shitty grade in spanish class. Other than that he'd spent the afternoon penny boarding. Because he literally had nothing else to do. Except go back to the hotel and edit some more video stuff. he could crash the concert. He didn't really feel like it though. He really wanted a bowl of cereal. But as it turned out it wasn't easy to find Captain crunch around here. Tyler headed back to the hotel, defeated from a long day of mental exhaustion and not able to understand anyone, and made his way to his room, putting the key in the door. As soon as it opened Tyler stopped, glancing around at the lighting, thinking he was in the wrong hotel room. He didn't have any candles, or rose petals. But sure enough, standing in his hotel room, was Kayla waiting for him. Tyler blinked twice out of momentary shock before his feet were moving toward her. He crossed the room in what felt like no time at all, not stopping to think about it. Tyler reached up, taking her face in his hands, his fingers moving into her hair and kissed her. There wasn't anything else that made sense. He didn't have anything to say. Obviously he wasn't expecting her. Asking what she was doing there was stupid, he knew what she was doing there. It felt like forever since the last time he'd seen her in person, let alone kissed her. If it was possible, somehow she was even prettier than the picture in his head. He felt light as a feather, like a giant ball of stress had just poofed into thin air. He felt like Tyler again. Because really, he wasn't Tyler without Kayla.

Kayla tapped her fingers against her hips as she watched the time. The small thought occurred to her, what if he brought a girl home?... What was jail in Spain like? She made a slight face as she weighed out the worst case scenario options. Eventually she began to pace the room, realizing that she was hungry. Would it be inappropriate to order food. What if he got there, kicked her out, then all the sudden a bacon cheeseburger was being delivered. She puffed out her cheeks and sighed, turning on the TV and flipping through some channels for about a half hour before she shut the TV off and stared back at the door. Maybe it was for two minutes, maybe it was for an hour. But the second she heard the handle start to turn, she stood up straight in place, pushing her hair behind her before she nervously brought her hands behind her body. She held her breath as he came through the door, with what looked like slight confusion on his face at first. Had he gotten taller? His chest looked more filled out. Confusion seemed to leave his features quickly being replaced by apparent determination as he came across the room. It took fewer strides with his long legs, but she stood in place, reaching her hands up to the side of his neck as he kissed her and stood on the tips of her toes so she could meet him halfway into the kiss. Her body moved into the kiss like the last time had been yesterday, leaning herself against his chest as she wrapped her arm around his neck and started to nibble against his bottom lip before she pursed her eyebrows together in frustration and pulled away. “ Hey I had… I had a whole thing planned here. And you barge in.. and.. this is not how I rehearsed it,” she said while glaring at him. Kayla took a step back and ran her hands over her skirt to smooth it out before she cleared her throat. “ This would be a little classier if I wasn’t wearing a skirt,” she said like it was obvious before she awkwardly lowered herself to one knee. “ There’s … a lot.. that …” she started off before she closed her eyes and shook her head. “ Okay I forgot what I rehearsed. You threw me off guard. So I’m just going to say my jumbled thoughts,” she said before she took in a deep breath. “ I will never be able to apologize enough for … deserting you when you may have needed me most,” she said as she adjusted her knee against the floor while looking up at him. “ But.. if you’ll have me, I propose that I never leave your side again. I mean, someday you should actually propose. Because I want a ring. Like a really big one. Like whatever you’re thinking,.. but bigger. But.. we are kids. And we’ve done everything together. Everything. Every experience I’ve ever had, I’ve shared with you. And.. I want you to be the only person I share my life with. The heavy stuff can come later. The fights about a mortgage,… whether or not we should buy another car. That can.. wait. I want that to happen. But I also want to fight with you over what movie to rent on Friday nights. I want to sleep in and read… the newspa-..the comic section… in bed. I want to go out at 2 in the morning, because the only responsibilities we have.. are to eachother. I propose that you let me share my life with you,.. starting now. If you’ll have me. Because really,.. I mean I don’t want you having “a” box of captain crunch at my place. I want YOUR box of captain crunch at like… I mean our place. We can start a life together.. without facing the scary stuff yet. But it won’t be scary. We’ll do it in our own time. The way we always have. I can’t imagine my life with anyone else in it. You’re more than a boyfriend, or a lover. You’re my best friend.. and I want your captain crunch.. in our pantry. So.. I mean … everything else is already at my place..our place… maybe… anyways,” she said before making an awkward expression. “….This is really uncomfortable by the way,” she said, mentioning the bending down on one knee.
