The sun that was streaming through her window cast a perfect light against Logan’s bare skin, taking its’ chance to peek through the rain clouds that were covering the sky. She blinked slowly, careful as she moved her own arm under her head to try and stay still as possible as she watched him. They’d been up so late working on her album, and this rainy morning was making it beyond tempting for him to sleep in apparently. Rainy weather was always so inviting when it came to warm covers and Netflix. But it was in this moment, listening to the rain falling against the roof, and his calm and slow breathing, that made her come to the opinion that this sound, this music in her ears, was the most beautiful thing she had ever heard. Blake smiled to herself, finally moving as carefully as she possibly could out of her bed and made her way downstairs, clumsily placing her glasses on as she made her way toward the kitchen.
Mackenzie was leaving for the weekend with Kirsten, so it was almost surprising to see her this wide awake at such an early hour, looking completely polished and perfect. “Hey,” she said, leaning against the counter. So much of her was tempted to ask Mackenzie if she had all of the snacks she needed for a plane trip, but she would probably do something extremely chic like buy a twenty dollar bottle of water and then eat a scone or something from a bakery on the way to the airport. So chic that Mackenzie was. “I’m leaving you alone with him for the weekend. So… behave,” Mackenzie said, causing Blake to roll her eyes slightly before she stood up straight and wrapped her arms around her best friend to give her a hug before she was off to wreak some havoc on somewhere much sunnier with her sister.
Blake stood in the kitchen, the sound of soft rain drops on the window the only other noise as she tapped her fingers against the counter. After a moment she decided it would be best to wake Logan up with coffee. Caffeine seemed to make people happier when you were waking them up. She moved throughout the kitchen slowly, taking down everything she needed. Just as the aroma of the coffee beans was filling the kitchen, she heard her phone buzz on the counter. Tiredly, she moved over to it, seeing that it was a text from Taylor. She hesitated for a moment, thinking about a response to him asking if they could spend the day together. ‘ Spending the day working with Logan. Have fun memorizing your lines.’ she typed out before pressing send and rest her phone back on the counter where she intended to leave it for the rest of the day. Logan Renner was in her bedroom, sleeping in her bed, and if anyone was going to get her attention today it was beyond a doubt going to be him.
Blake smiled to herself as the coffee continued to brew. Logan Renner.. the one thing growing up that she had convinced herself was unattainable was sleeping in her sheets. Yet, there was still the fear now that she ‘had’ him. She couldn’t ever be with him in a relationship, because the crushing reality that she officially wasn’t good enough for him would overwhelm her. At least, right now she could pretend. But she without a doubt knew she couldn’t handle the heartbreak that would come with him saying goodbye to her, the realization that everything in her mind was a fairytale and would never come to fruition. Because why would Logan Renner ever be with someone like her? She picked up the coffee mug, pouring the black coffee into a coffee mug before she made her way back upstairs.
Blake leaned against the doorframe of her bedroom, looking over at the most magnificent man she had ever known, sleeping peacefully. Someone who had once been a neighbor, a highschool king.. had become someone who was real and genuine in her life. So many of the things that he had going on in his life were things that she would have never been able to guess if she hadn’t been his neighbor, let alone his friend. She set his coffee mug on the nightstand of his side of the bed before she sat down beside him, bringing her hand into his hair as she began to curl her finger tips over it gently and move it for him. “Good morning, sleepy head,” she said quietly that way she wasn’t shouting him into waking up from his dreams. Her eyes wandered down from his hair to the way his muscles moved on his back which were on perfect display due to his endearing habit of not wearing shirts.
