Dani sat back in her seat, crossing her legs casually as she looked back down at her shirt to adjust the microphone that was along the inside of it. “ Oh thank you,” she said, smiling as someone set a coffee cup filled with water next to her. She’d done a lot of interviews for Disney channel and things like that, but she knew this would be the first interview she’d had that focused more on her joining Taboo Records. She sat up slightly, shaking the hosts hand as they introduced themselves and then looked over. She didn’t think Logan was here, but he always sort of seemed to be lurking around when you least expected it. But she didn’t hear any girls screaming so she doubted he was. Dani took in a deep breath, popping her two thumbs out of a nervous habit before she grinned again, sitting farther into her seat. Here she was about to be interviewed and all she could think about was whether Ryan would rather want fried ice cream or grilled bananas with ice cream and a caramel sauce to top off the lunch she’d probably make for him later.
‘ Joining us today is Dani Cooper, most formerly known for her appearance as Alex on Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney channel, but she’s been a busy girl lately filming both the show and a new movie, and also signing to esteemed record label, Taboo Records ran by everyone’s favorite music success story, Logan Renner. Thank you for making time for us in your schedule today. It seems like having so much to juggle along with being in school as well, are you still in the process of filming Wizards of Waverly Place? There’s rumors that this will be the last season,” the host questioned before she rested her notecards against the table and smiled in Dani’s direction.
Dani waved her hand lazily at the camera as she was introduced and turned her attention to the host so she could actually focus on what she was being asked. Ryan could just text her what he wanted to eat later. “ Yes, I am. It’s so much fun. Sadly, it is Wizards last season but I really think it’s time. There’s only so many stories about following Alex’s hijinx that writers can work with. And as a crew we’ve all just grown up so much, I mean if you look at the young actor who plays my brother Max he’s just grown up so much. We all have. And I think we’re all really appreciative of the opportunity that it gave us, but it’s also time to move on when you’re doing really well, instead of putting out material that isn’t quality.”
“ So how is it on set? Do you all get along, or is there the same type of relationship that real siblings would have? The fights, arguments, then the highs and celebrations. Because you all seem to have really good chemistry and timing on the show”.
“ We’re really lucky to work with a group of talented people. I mean David and Maria who play our parents are sort of amazing, and she sort of is the mom on the set. David just causes problems, which sort of feeds the rest of the younger crew. Um..but yeah, I think most of the relationships you see on the show are completely accurate. If someone Justin and Mason became better friends then you’d get a chance to see how Jake and Lance are. And both of those guys are so good at what they do. Lance’s accent is horrible, the worst fake accent I’ve ever heard, but he really tries.. and he’s so unfortunate looking. People really don’t like him,” she laughed quietly to herself,picking up her coffee cup to take a drink of water. She wanted more than anything for Lance to be really okay with everything that was going on lately. Ever since his incident he’d been locked inside his house, and she never talked to him on set because he went straight to his trailer. But she knew he had reached out to Jake a few times.
“ So who on set is least like their character?”.
Dani narrowed her eyebrows as she thought. Usually they got asked who was most like their character. Easy. The kid that played Max. “ I guess the person the least like their character would be Jake. Justin is such this nerdy, go by the rules, don’t make a mess of things guy. And Jake is that guy at a party that just exudes confidence and ‘cool’. Way too cool to be seen around me,” she said, crossing her legs uncomfortably as she adjusted the pillow under her arm.
‘ Jake is scheduled to be on our show next week, so we’ll have to see his reaction to that, haha. So all of that being said, who do you find yourself closest to on set?”.
Jake. That was easy. Dani licked the corner of her lips, trying to think of what pictures of her would be with another castmember the most. Lance. “ Well I think it’s easy to say that Lance and I are extremely close out of people on the set. We dated for a long time, so that naturally sort of pulls you into being a bit closer with someone. He’s a great guy. I mean if Disney was looking for a prince charming, they really found him. And I’m glad that even though our relationship has had changes that he’s still such an important part of my life, and he’s such a great addition to the show, he really is like family to me. In the deepest of all meanings,”
“ Well he really must be family, considering his brother is the one who decided to take a chance and sign you to his records. Why the decision to join Taboo instead of let Disney take over your music career? In fact, both you and Natalia Richmond could have let the house of mouse take over your career but you are both venturing out. Is there a comraderie there between you two, coming into a label that is so often described as one of the closest, family oriented labels in the nation?”.
Dani shook her head, “ I mean I’ve known Logan since Lance first came onto the Wizards set. They have a relationship that is unparalleled by any other pair of brothers I’ve ever seen. When one is hurt, they both hurt. When one is celebrating, they’re both celebrating. I mean they’re extremely close so, it wasn’t really this.. getting to know Logan through Lance thing, because I had the opportunity to meet Logan and form my own relationship with him. And from that I got to know him a lot better through the time that I did spend at his and Logan’s place. I think what I really appreciate about my relationship with Logan is that we’re both extremely honest with what we can bring to the table. I didn’t ask Lance to talk to Logan for me about the music industry. It was honestly this open conversation between Logan and I where I was basically like, look.. I know I’m not the most talented person you’ll ever meet. Not even today. But, I have something I think could work. And Logan gives chances to people based on how hard he can tell they are willing to work. You could have the most beautiful voice in the world, but if he thought you were going to try and coast by, there’s not a chance he’d let you step foot in his studio. He’s serious about what he does. And yes, his label is close. For that reason. He is phenomenal at understanding that just because this is our passion, it doesn’t mean its our lives. You can go and talk to him about anything, if you don’t like something about where your music is going, you talk to him. He’s the best for a reason. I think the family dynamic on the set of Wizards is completely different than the family dynamic in the studio. On Wizards you’ve got everyone sitting around inbetween takes, when you aren’t working you get to be a family. In the studio I mean.. I’ll be recording and Joel’s coming in and playing my drums. Shane will pop in and re-tune a guitar then leave on some ‘quest to find a bomb taco’. Ryan will peek his head then disappear because Joel is trying to fight him. All while I’m just trying to record a song. But no one would bother Parker when her studio door is shut. So you get to annoy each other and then there’s Logan having to sort of wrangle everyone in and get them to focus. He’s trying to get Joel to do homework, while he’s doing choreography. He’s trying to get Ryan to focus to write a song, he’s trying to just… sedate All Time Low, plus keep his wife happy. Natalia’s a great girl but I also haven’t seen her at the studio that much, since she’s filming a movie. Either way it’s looking good for her, music or big screen. Not the worst choice to have to make, and she’ll be able to do both. So there isn’t comraderie in the sense that I feel like she and I are in this together, but as a newcomer to the label along with her, I mean there’s comraderie that I want her to succeed and do well. Which she clearly is,”
‘ All of that being said, you’ve mentioned before in other interviews that another reason you really wanted to go to Taboo Records was because you were such a fan of the artists signed to the label. Now that you’ve had a chance to work with them all , who is your favorite musician at the label?
“ Oh, man.. “ she started off quietly, trying to think through all of them. “ No I mean, they’re all my favorite in different settings. If I’m at a party, you better believe I want to throw an All Time Low cd in the stereo and turn it all the way up. If I’m wanted to just do a little dancing with the girls, which we often do, I would turn some of Joel’s music , act silly. The Maine was made for roadtrip and driving music. Blake’s… I mean come on. Everyone has that on their iPod. I don’t know.. I’m really liking the Maine lately. Plus they just released a cd. So if you guys haven’t picked it up yet, you should go out and buy it.
‘ Has there been an artist that you connected with that you never expected?”
“Oh my gosh, yeah. Ryan O’Neil is like twenty times my height. He’s a genius. Have you ever interviewed him? I feel like he would be the worst person ever to interview because of how direct and quiet he is. But he’s ridiculously amazing. I mean when I first met everybody he was really nice, he’s nice to everyone. But then I guess we sort of started becoming closer friends because I have this thing where I really like to cook when I’m stressed. And Ryan really likes to eat. Even though it doesn’t look like it. I think that’s part of the reason I really like The Maine’s music right now. It was always good, but getting to know him., and the meaning behind his songs… he’s just someone I’m really glad I was able to meet and have in my life because there isn’t a person who can say a bad thing about him. He’s the most loyal friend you could ever ask for, he’d help you with open arms, he’s been amazing to specific people at the label and to just sit here and see those connections first-hand is amazing. I’m sure he does things that parents would look down on, but if their children grew up to be half the person that he was, and how he helps people, then they’d have every reason to be proud. Plus he can reach the top of my cabinets, so I’m really just trying to feed his ego so he’ll stay around for that reason.”
“Following the family theme, him and Joel often call each other their brothers, and it seems like you’ve been getting to know Joel extremely well,” the host indicated before she tilted her hand over her shoulder to show pictures of Joel kissing Dani at an awards show before he went on stage.
Dani looked over her shoulder and shook her head instantly, “ Oh, brother” she said, draping her arm over the back of the chair as she looked at the picture. Here she was, actually having a relationship with Jake, but Joel had gotten this idea planted in his head and basically taken over for them to have a public relationship. He was tired of people thinking he dated every person he talked to. So there he was, talking about how they were dating. “ Yeah,” Dani said, finally looking away from the picture. “ I guess that’s what I’m supposed to say,” she laughed, trying to play it off as a joke. “ Look, if I was dating Joel Foster there could be worse things. That wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen in my entire life,” she said, still avoiding answering the question directly.
‘ Okay, so he’s your boyfriend. the host teased, giving a quick smile. ‘ Now that we’ve figured that out….. with the family on Wizards and the closeness of Taboo, who in your personal life do you consider your family aside from your actual family?”.
Dani cringed slightly, thinking of her actual family. She still hadn’t spoken directly to her father in about year, and honestly that trial was coming up quicker than Dani had anticipated. “ I am extremely close with a group of girls. Um.. Felicia, Zoe, Kiersten, Claire. Those four girls are pretty much my family. It’s just this younger group of us, next to the bigger group that consists mainly of their siblings. But, yeah I mean..all of them are so beautiful; inside and out. And they’re the reason I wrote the song ‘Who Says’. Each of us have been through a period of time where we sort of doubt ourselves and our abilities, but we always have each others back, and it’s really important to have friends that will tell you just how beautiful you are. .
‘ You’re photographed a lot with not only that group of girls, but then it’ll seem like it’s a group also consisting of socialite and heiress Kiersten Bannon, Lance Renner and Jake Russo. Yet, you don’t really seem to talk about him as much. Is there an actual friendship there, or is that more or less stemming from his friendship with Lance from set?”
“ Jake? “ she questioned, dropping her arm from the back of the chair as she turned back to the host. “ Yeah Jake and Lance are very good friends from set, but Jake and I also work together. I mean, I guess I don’t talk about him much because to me it would just seem obvious that he was someone I was friends with. Whereas people might question whether or not Lance and I were able to be friends after everything, seems more like a credible question to me. But working with a talented actor who plays my brother and is generally quite pleasant on set, I mean I don’t mind spending extra time with him outside of work. He’s nice.” she ended awkwardly. No one had ever asked her directly about Jake, and she clearly choked on that one. The host continued to finish off the interview, but Dani just smiled, not really listening to her since the inside of her was panicking. Felicia would be watching this. Probably Mackenzie if she had nothing better to do while she was doing homework or something and watching Lily. The only people who knew were Kiersten, Lance, Jake himself and well Ryan. Though she hadn’t told anyone that she’d told Ryan. Who was he going to tell? He was always eating.
‘ When we get back, Dani will be singing her newest single Who Says.’ the host said, smiling to the camera before it cut off.
Dani stood up from the chair instantly and started taking the mic out of her shirt since they’d be giving her a microphone stand to sing to outside on the stage set up. She handed the microphone and wire off to a stage assistant, peeling the tape off of her skin before she leaned down to check her phone in her purse. No messages. Yet . Dani scrunched her nose, definitely not wanting to face that reality when it smacked her in the face. She ran her fingers through her hair, shaking the ends out before she followed one of the interns outside to the stage where they re-set the markings for her and she tested the microphone quickly. “ Sup, gorgeous?” she heard, freezing in place before she first looked over her shoulder before turning to face him. “ What are you doing here?” she questioned. Joel smiled before he walked over and hugged her, wrapping his arms around her small frame easily. “ Surprise. You’re the one that said we should do a duet,”.
Dani narrowed her eyes at him before she pointed her finger at him. “ Logan is here somewhere. I know he is somehow involved. Even if that means he let you leave just for a few minutes,” The countdown started and Dani walked back over to her microphone, smiling at a few younger fans near the front. She gave a small wave to them as the cameras started back on her. Though the girls quickly turned their attention to Joel and started screaming. But she was sort of surprised, Joel didn’t seem cocky around them, he seemed really appreciative, leaning down to touch their hands and do a few quick autographs. He was sort of endearing when he wasn’t trying to have his stupid ‘swagger’. She smiled as she watched him, hearing the song starting to play in the background. Dani snapped back to reality, singing the song instead of watching her friend with his and her fans. She knew when she recorded this song that Joel liked it. He had come inside and sat down, listening to it as she recorded. He had said how the message behind the song was important, especially since he’d been dealing with a lot lately. Specifically his brother. She could see it in his eyes sometimes when he thought about him, stressing about what he could have done differently to help him. But they’d never directly spoken about it, Joel had just hugged her, telling her she was doing a good thing. During the song she actually found herself having a good time singing with Joel, smiling whenever they caught each others eyes and he’d walk over to grab her hand or place his hand on her lower back. By the time she’d turned back around she noticed how he was singing to a small girl in the front row, holding his hand out to her until he pulled her up on the stage and kneeled down to be close to her. By the time the song had finished, Dani set the microphone back on the stand, giving an embarrassed wave to a few of her fans before she reached down to squeeze their hands. She smiled over to Joel as she felt him take her hand in his own, though he was looking out at the crowd and waving at them. Dani watched him for a few moments before she turned to face him and stood on her toes, placing her hand behind his neck while her other hand was still inside of his and kissed him.

Dani scrunched her nose, definitely not wanting to face that reality when it smacked her in the face. She ran her fingers through her hair, shaking the ends out before she followed one of the interns outside to the stage where they re-set the markings for her and she tested the microphone quickly. “ Sup, gorgeous?” she heard, freezing in place before she first looked over her shoulder before turning to face him. “ What are you doing here?” she questioned. Joel smiled before he walked over and hugged her, wrapping his arms around her small frame easily. “ Surprise. You’re the one that said we should do a duet,”.
Dani narrowed her eyes at him before she pointed her finger at him. “ Logan is here somewhere. I know he is somehow involved. Even if that means he let you leave just for a few minutes,” The countdown started and Dani walked back over to her microphone, smiling at a few younger fans near the front. She gave a small wave to them as the cameras started back on her. Though the girls quickly turned their attention to Joel and started screaming. But she was sort of surprised, Joel didn’t seem cocky around them, he seemed really appreciative, leaning down to touch their hands and do a few quick autographs. He was sort of endearing when he wasn’t trying to have his stupid ‘swagger’. She smiled as she watched him, hearing the song starting to play in the background. Dani snapped back to reality, singing the song instead of watching her friend with his and her fans. She knew when she recorded this song that Joel liked it. He had come inside and sat down, listening to it as she recorded. He had said how the message behind the song was important, especially since he’d been dealing with a lot lately. Specifically his brother. She could see it in his eyes sometimes when he thought about him, stressing about what he could have done differently to help him. But they’d never directly spoken about it, Joel had just hugged her, telling her she was doing a good thing. During the song she actually found herself having a good time singing with Joel, smiling whenever they caught each others eyes and he’d walk over to grab her hand or place his hand on her lower back. By the time she’d turned back around she noticed how he was singing to a small girl in the front row, holding his hand out to her until he pulled her up on the stage and kneeled down to be close to her. By the time the song had finished, Dani set the microphone back on the stand, giving an embarrassed wave to a few of her fans before she reached down to squeeze their hands. She smiled over to Joel as she felt him take her hand in his own, though he was looking out at the crowd and waving at them. Dani watched him for a few moments before she turned to face him and stood on her toes, placing her hand behind his neck while her other hand was still inside of his and kissed him.
