“ We are so excited to have you here in the studio with us today, and we’re looking forward to getting to talk to you. It seems like it’s starting to be a rare thing for artists to come directly into the studio instead of calling in to do interviews,” the host said as Joel grinned, setting his cup of New York deli coffee down on the counter. “ Yeah, absolutely man. I’m thrilled to be here. I was in the neighborhood anyways, Taboo is basically just down the street,” he said leaning back into his chair that spins. Oh, distraction. Joel twirled in the chair before he stopped himself, looking up at the interviewer and offered a quick smile. He did like these things, but he also liked being at home more. Especially since he was leaving for tour soon, it just all seemed so.. benign. He wanted to spend time with his family before he didn’t get to see them for weeks at a time. He knew he’d come home when he had a day or two off in a row. He wasn’t going to be the celebrity who let their career completely define them. Even though he did when it came to his personal lovelife.
“ As far as excitement goes, are you getting pretty pumped for your tour? It seems like fans are already lining up outside of the arena’s”. Joel chuckled quietly and shook his head. Man, if only. “I’m completely looking forward to tour. The excitement of the fans is what it’s all about. They bought the album, they liked it, they sing it in their cars on their way to school and work, they youtube the videos. What better way to say thank you than to just dedicate myself to going to their hometowns, getting a chance to meet them face to face and just sharing that excitement and appreciation for what we’ve done for each other. Every artist out there will say it, but I really know it’s true. My fans have done a lot more for me than I’ve ever done for them,” he said confidently. He’d gotten a lot better at this interview thing ever since he first stepped into Logan’s office. “ We already know what the fans are looking forward to most about tour, what about you? What are you looking forward to most?” he asked, causing Joel to run his hand over his hair. “ Just the fans reactions. To see them be just as excited about something as I am. We’re doing big productions, giving it everything we’ve got to guarantee it’s a show they’ll remember. And I know I will, too”
“ What about home, what will you miss most while you’re on tour?”. Joel laughed, hating that question. Wasn’t it obvious? Weren’t most questions like this obvious? Who do you do the music for. What’s your favorite thing about tour. What do you miss about home. Every artist said the same thing. Questions like that weren’t ones you strayed from. It was the personal question, catered exactly to their life that always threw them in a snag and created a level of genuine openness. “ Obviously I’m going to say my friends and family. They’re everything to me so that pretty much does it. And my car. I’m going to miss my car. I got the car from my ‘Mistletoe’ music video. I would say I would miss my xbox, but I’m really hoping Renner put that on my tour bus,” he said, thinking that maybe he should take his phone out and text Logan right now to make sure that was taken care of. “ Speaking of loved ones. Everyone saw that backstage kiss between Dani Cooper and Jake Russo. What’s the story there? Did you two break up, did she cheat?”. There it was. The personal question catered to his life.
Joel scratched the side of his jaw. The last thing he wanted was for Dani to be labeled a cheater. She was doing him a favor in the first place, and she seemed to be stressed about things going on in her life that she didn’t talk about . “ No, it’s not like that at all” he said firmly, trying to find his best way to explain it. He found himself wondering what Logan would say, what he would do, how he would have him spin it. Then he realized, he didn’t need Logan for this. He could spin it on his own, make Logan proud. “ You know if there’s one thing I think is a mistake out of all of this is that I’ve disappointed my fans,” he started off hesitantly, before he decided which direction he would take this and gave a firm nod. “ I sing songs about love and .. I feel like it’s something I really need to be able to sell, to have people understand that I believe in it. The best way to do that is to portray that I’m in a relationship. Don’t go me wrong, Dani Cooper is someone in my life that I love beyond comparison. But I’m not in love with her. I deceived my fans and for that I apologize, but my lyrics.. how I feel about the subject of love. That’s all true. Songs that I said I had written about Dani… I mean.. that’s true, too. I believe in a kind of love, that I want someone to feel for Dani. And I for one.. and beyond thrilled that she has someone that does. So there’s no pointing fingers, no name-calling. Dani’s a girl who deserves to be loved the way I described I loved her. And I’m sorry if I disappointed any fans in the process. That being said, just because I believe in that type of love, doesn’t mean I’m ready for it. So yeah… Jake Russo and Dani Cooper. A couple. For about a year now, sorry guys to put you on blast. And I am very much single, and very much happy about it. I love my fans and my work too much to try and spread myself too thin.
