[Joel Carter Foster]

Joel pulled his jeans up at the side, strolling into the small studio at the radio station before he gave a fist bump to the radio host before leaning in to hug him and pat his hand against his back. “ What’s good, man?” he asked happily before he took a step back. ‘ Holy shit, Joel Foster in the flesh. Finally awake huh, bro?” the radio host, Parker Gray, greeted him with just as much as enthusiasm. Joel laughed and gave a small nod. “ I guess if Logan couldn’t make me take a break then God was taking it in his own hands, ha” he said before he sat down in his chair and looked over his shoulder. Chace had come with him, which was pretty cool because as soon as he went on tour Chace would be joining his little entourage. Ryan wasn’t really able to come with him considering how he was on his on tour, and Madeline was a nervous wreck about Joel going on tour again. Not that she ever said it out right directly. He’d met Chace through Dani and they’d been pretty good friends ever since. He was a mature kid for his age. ‘ Well we’re glad you could take time out of your schedule to make it in today,’ Parker said, causing Joel to offer a shrug. “ Oh yeah man, no problem” he said as he adjusted his headphones against his head.

‘ And we are back. Joining us in the studios today is Joel Foster. He’s gearing up to go back on tour and from the sounds of it, it seems like you’re already working on a new album. When do you find time to take a break? “ he asked , leaning back in his own chair. Joel chuckled “ Yeah, pretty busy.” he said while nodding in agreement, ‘ Your fans were pretty relieved to have you wake up recently. Then you surprised them at one of the benefit concerts, that must’ve been a really surprise. How the hell did you manage to keep your situation under wraps for a few days before you announced you were awake?”, Joel licked his lips, “ Yeah,” he said, trying to figure out how to best go into detail about it. “ Well I mean Logan Renner is capable of anything he wants. And uh.. I was with two of the people that mean more than anything in the world to me when I woke up, and it was just really important for me to sort of.. I mean I wanted to surprise my fans. They had stayed so dedicated and wrote so many letters and were so supportive. I just wanted to give them a special night, a surprise. And Logan is pretty I mean.. there was hospital staff that knew about but they had to sign waivers, and then the rest of the hospital assumed that I was being transferred to a hospital in South Africa so I could be closer to my family. Logan got one of the studio SUV’s with the blacked out windows and uh yeah… we just snuck out basically and then I just sort of lived in the studio for a while until it was time for the concert. It was pretty..covert, Renner had me feeling like I was a secret agent or something. Everything was hush, hush.. But that moment man standing on that stage and hearing the reaction, wow yeah… I’d never take that back,” he said confidently with a nod. ‘ And at the time of the accident, I hope you don’t mind if we talk about it for a bit.. but at the time of the accident you had just finished a show and you were hanging out with Ryan O’Neil, is that correct?”. Joel coughed and adjusted the way the mic was sitting before he continued. “ Yeah, .. yeah Ryan O’Neil is a big part of my life. I’ve been.. I mean, I know the circumstances. I ran off the bus , Ryan chased after me, I got hit by a car. But uh, I .. I know there’s pictures online of Ryan with me when I’m on the ground and that’s just not something I’m interested in seeing. I’ve sort of banned myself from looking them up. It’s not even that I don’t want to see myself. I know what I look like beat up. I don’t want .. to see someone I care about feeling like they’re losing something. Ryan’s my brother and I just haven’t thought it was logical at any point to see him so upset and distressed. ‘ Friends and family have been something that have always meant a lot to you..’ Parker pressed, ‘ Oh without a doubt. Most important thing in my life,’ Joel smirked as he looked over at Chace. He was heading out for tour soon which meant that he would need to hang out with Jake and Lance before he headed out. ‘ You’ve even brought one with you today. Chace Matthews. I’m not entirely sure why you’re being so shy, Chace.. you’re no stranger to the limelight. Go ahead and pull up a seat, let’s get a tag team interview going on here’ Parker said.

Chace ran his hand over his chest, adjusting the way it laid against his skin as he looked down at his phone, texting his girlfriend. He just sort of felt like something was strange with her lately. She always seemed busy, and she wasn’t talking to him as much. If she wanted to end things, she just needed to do it. But she didn’t seem interested in that. And she was pretty secretive about who she was hanging out with lately. He watched Parker and Joel greet each other before he went back to his phone, sending a text out to Jake ‘ Hey man you and and Lance wanna grab lunch with Joel and I after this interview?” . Man Date. Solid. He put his phone on silent before he slid it into his front pocket and crossed his arms, leaning against the door frame as he watched the interview unfold. But before he knew it Parker was talking to him. “ Hm?” he said before putting his hand up and shaking his head. No sir, no thank you. Not today. ‘ Come ooon. We would love to hear what’s happened to you since your series ended and what you’ve been up to as well” Parker said but Chace still looked resistant. “ Bro get your ass over here” Joel said as he swiveled in his chair. Chace sighed, leaning away from the door frame. “ Hey man” he said, giving a similar fist bump that Joel did earlier before he sat down. He leaned back in his seat and let them set up the mics before he leaned forward. “ Hey, sorry I wasn’t really expecting this…” he said with a slight laugh.

‘ Well we’re glad to have you. What’s been going on since Wizards ended? You two must have met through Dani’ Parker said before he took a drink from his coffee. “ Yeah we did, actually. It’s kind of.. I would say my best guy friends are Joel, Jake, and Lance.. so when we’re all together and it’s us,..then it’s Dani.. it’s kind of like… hey baby, so uh.. what’s good, I mean you and I are the only ones that haven’t been in a ‘relationship’ out of this bunch.’ he chuckled before he looked over at Joel who was grinning. ‘ Don’t make her sound bad’ Joel said with a slight caveat to his tone. “Oh no no.. not at all. Besides you’ve seen Jake. He’s jacked. I think he takes us hitting on her so well because he knows he could rock our worlds. There’s no real threat” he said with a laugh. So true. “ So you’re headed on tour with Joel Foster.. is there anything you’ve working on at the moment or are you just sort of taking a hiatus?”. Chace brought his hand up and used his knuckled to rub it against the side of his jaw. “ Yeah a semi-hiatus. I was home-schooled because of the age that I started Wizards of Waverly Place at so uh.. I got to graduate a little bit early from high school, at least earlier than having to wait until May. I officially graduated about a week ago. And I’m just sort of.. taking a break. I got accepted into a few colleges and right now I’m looking into heading to either Yale or Brown.” he said, finally settling back into his chair. ‘ Haven’t decided between the two yet? It’s getting to be crunch time” Parker said before congratulating him on making it into both of the colleges. “ Yeah no joke, I need to decide pretty soon” he laughed. “ I’ll still do projects every now and then. I just got done shooting for CSI so that should be on the air pretty soon and it was exciting.. I got to hear about the episodes that are going to include Joel and Blake ‘ he said before throwing a smirk in Joel’s direction.

‘ You guys have so many projects going on, it’s gotta be pretty hard to juggle all of those things at once’ Parker said, looking between them. Joel shrugged, “ I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t difficult. But it’s manageable. Yeah we’re doing a lot… but.. we give up a lot too. We get a lot of help. We lose a lot of things. We get a lot of things. We’re not a one man team. It’s this whole orchestra of things that come together. And Logan’s great about.. well about trying to make sure there’s a balance. I think sometimes he wishes I would lay off a little more but… I’m sort of obsessed” he said , popping his fingers lethargically as he spun from side to side in his chair to entertain himself. ‘ So with your new experiences and waking up and having a new perspective and.. being in the studio, should we expect a new sound coming from Joel Foster and his camp?” Joel nodded happily, “ Absolutely. We’re definitely taking things in a new direction. I’m a young kid, I’m a teenage boy. There’s certain things I want to sing about, there’s a certain way I want to portray myself and I’m just hoping that my fans will sort of grow with me,” he said before licking his lips, ‘ And the things you’re singing and writing about in the past, it’s always sort of revolved around women but they were more crush, love type songs.. And it sounds like your new sound is going to be a bit edgier, a bit more about the womans..assets.’ Parker pressed lightly, causing Joel to laugh, “ Absolutely. I’m a big fan of women. I try to make that be known, that I feel like every single girl is a princess and if you choose to be in a relationship with her then you need to treat her like a princess. She is one” he said, thinking back on how he tried to make girls feel special at his concerts. ‘ So who was the first love song you wrote about?’ Parker asked, hoping to get something juicy. “ Madeline.” Joel said, nodding at the disgusted expression Chace made. ‘ You wrote a love song about Madeline?” Chace asked and Joel continued to nod, “ Yeah man… that’s weird. It wasn’t the first song I recorded, but it was the first one I ever wrote. And yeah.. I mean it was about Madeline, but it was from the perspective of Ryan O’Neil. Just watching him with her, the way he acted, the way he behaved. It was inspiring man. So yeah.. wrote my first love song about my sister’ he said, adjusting the way he was sitting as he laughed.

‘ And that relationship is a great one to model after, the news is that they’re engaged.’ . Joel smiled again as he nodded, ‘ Yeah that was a great thing to hear about. Ryan was already my brother so to make it official means a lot to me,’ he said, unable to wipe the happy grin off his face. “ They’re going to make it through anything. They’re great together,” he said as he scratched the back of his neck. ‘ So let’s dive into some of the details that some of your fans might not know about you. Well either of you, Chace we want your answers on this too.. well aside from the one I’m about to ask, it doesn’t really apply to you. Sorry man, haha.. Umm.. alright Joel what song do you hate performing the most?”. Joel scrunched his nose, “ Come on man..” he said before he licked his lips. What a crappy question, no matter what song he said some fans would be disappointed. “ There’s songs I don’t necessarily enjoy for the song itself but they’re all worth it when I look out at the fans and see them singing along. “ he said, before he looked over at Chace who was laughing. “ Smooth” he said while nodding at Joel. He offered a shrug of his shoulder before he looked back at Parker. “ Haha, alright next question.. your favorite candy yeah man these.. are legit fan questions” Parker said with a laugh, “ Sweettarts” ‘Sweettarts’, him and Chace both said simultaneously before holding a fist up to eachother to hit. ‘ You’re guilty pleasure music? I mean what songs do you know back and forth?” Joel puffed out his cheeks, “ None of it is really.. guilty pleasure.. I mean I could say Natalia Richmond. My sister Madeline is pretty obsessed with that Party In The USA song. I would probably go with…. Dani. Yeah. I listen to her stuff a lot on the tour bus and in the studio. “ he said before chewing on the edge of his lip.

“ So Dani Cooper for both of you?” Parker asked and Chace nodded in agreement, “ Yeah it’s pretty embarrassing to be at the gym and then you realize that no one around you is talking or doing anything while you’re belting out lyrics to Love You Like A Love Song.” he said with a small chuckle. ‘ So which of you knows it better?’ Parker asked, causing Chace and Joel to look at each other, both suggesting that they knew it better than the other. “ Come on man.. she was singing songs all around the set of Wizards when she was recording,” he said, ‘ Yeah but I was at the studio when she was recording them’ Joel responded, but before either of them could continue their debate, Parker was playing an instrumental version of Love You Like A Love Song. Joel was pretending to dance in his chair, bringing his arms up and down as he bounced his knees. “ It’s been said and dooone every beautiful thoughts been already sung, and I guess right now here’s another one so humanity will play on and on with the best of em..” he sang out, after Chace chimed in – not as well as Joel, “ you are beautiful like a dream come alive incredible… a centerfold miracle lyrical, you saved my life again.. and I want you to know baby, I I love you like a love song baby” he said before he laughed and shook his head. “ Serenading Joel feels wrong” he said, sitting up to adjust the way he was sitting before Joel added, ‘ That’s how you know it’s right’. He rolled his eyes at the wink Joel gave him. “ She actually wrote that song about me,” he said dryly before he ran his hand over his hair.

Speaking of being on set with Dani Cooper I mean we’re all still sort of surprised that she was not only not seeing Lance Renner but that she was dating your on screen brother. Did you guys on set know, were you aware?” Parker asked and Chace shook his head. This was not something he wanted to talk about, “ I think both Jake and Dani have made it pretty clear in interviews what went down,” he said, looking over at Joel who had been a big part of the blow up. ‘ Did you guys on set at least know?” Chace shook his head, “ No.. not a clue. They were extremely professional. No one knew until they wanted us to. Man that’s why I don’t get the backlash that they have gotten from some parents. It wasn’t like it was some sort of brothel on set. They came to work, they did their job, they went home.” he said before he yawned tiredly and rubbed his fingers against his eyes. ‘ That’s all we’re getting?” Parker asked and Chace chuckled, “ That’s all you’re getting,” he said, wondering for a small moment if Jake was listening since he had told him about it. Probably not. They were all really close on set and he could only imagine that it was the same way at Taboo. He twisted the cap off of his bottle of water and took a drink as Parker turned the interview back to Joel. ‘ So at the label you’re all a family. And putting Logan aside, since you’re basically his protégé and golden child, which artist do you look up to the most?”

Joel bit the inside of his cheek. Which artist did he respect the most – not including Logan. Well Blake Parker was sure as hell successful. That girl wanted something she went out and got it, and he sort of viewed himself the same way. “ Shane Madden,” he said, knowing that most people would probably expect him to say Ryan or Dani since he was so publically close with them. But him and Shane had an unspoken connection that neither of them ever talked about outloud. No point, they both knew it was there and they both knew what it involved. He subconsciously reached back and rubbed the tattoo on his back that was for David and turned his neck to the side to pop it. “ Shane Madden of All Time Low, really, that’s a bit surprising” Joel nodded, knowing that would be the reaction. “ Yeah he’s a really, really great guy. And he’s a phenomenal artist. I respect him as an artist because I think out of the label his music is the one that really sort of sets a uh.. I guess sets a standard. Blake’s going to be popping out number one singles until the day she dies and audiences are always going to love her. That’s something that I certainly look up to, but the difference with Shane is that he realizes how much music impacts people. It’s the soundtrack to your life, it’s what gets you through your ups and downs. I mean he’s got songs that… literally carry people through their toughest times. Therapy.. Lullaby.. that’s just a few. And they’re so powerful. Then he’s got songs that you just want to crank up and get fucked up to. It can change your mood. It can lift you up. It’s a powerful tool ,and I think more than anyone Shane realizes that and uses it to make an impact. “.

‘ So can we expect you and Ryan both to be taking time off from tour for a wedding?” Parker asked and Joel shook his head, “ No I mean I don’t think they have even started planning anything. For all I know it could be next week, it could be in five years. But I don’t see Ryan ever planning it when he was on tour. It would suck to cram in a honeymoon then head back to tour,” he said, wondering for the first time himself when exactly they were getting hitched. ‘ And of course Madeline has her career with Victoria Secret’. Joel ran his hand over his hair, “ Yeah that’s a bit easier to plan around. Plus, she’ll be leaving Victoria Secret for other ventures pretty soon. I would be surprised if she was still an angel in 2013. “ he said. Woops, sorry Madeline. Wasn’t sure if she was publicly saying that yet or not. ‘ Oh wow, sudden. Maybe they’re planning for a family’ Parker offered but instead of going into any details since Joel himself wasn’t sure “ Maybe” he offered. ‘ From politics to rockstars, quite a transition’ he offered. Patrick was one of Joel’s least favorite people in the world. “ I think it’s more about finally finding true love,” he said , growing slightly irritated. “ And what about you boys, have either of you found true love?”.

Chace was perfectly fine just listening to the rest of the conversation unfold. Let Joel do his business, wait for his phone to vibrate so either his girlfriend or Jake to text him back, just hang out. It’d been a late night and he wasn’t really in the mood for talking anyways. Especially when this wasn’t even his interview. But when Parker asked about true love, Joel just looked in Chace’s direction. Apparently he wanted Chace to answer first, which wasn’t completely out of the question seeing as how Chace was the one with a girlfriend and Joel was more of the single and mingle type. “ Yeah, I’ve got a girlfriend right now,” he said with a bit of enthusiasm. He wasn’t someone that minded media being in his business too much. He understood it, as long as they gave him a little bit of respect, let him open the car door for his girlfriend, let them walk down the street without tripping over cameras, he was good. And he wasn’t that famous yet so it had worked out pretty well. Him walking down the street hand in hand with someone would be a little different than Joel doing it.
“ We’ve been together for about two years now,” he said as he thought back to when he had first met her. It didn’t seem like that long ago, but it had come and gone so quickly. She had changed so much though in that amount of time. He wasn’t really sure that either of them were happy at this point. Though the only reason he wasn’t happy, was because she didn’t seem happy. And for the life of him he couldn’t seem to put the same smile on her face that he did when they first started dating, no matter how hard he tried. ‘ Wedding bells anytime soon?”. Chace shook his head, “ No way, we’re still kids.” he said before he looked back over at Joel, knowing that the topic would switch to his love life in the next few seconds. And let’s face it, that was more interesting. ‘ How about you Joel any lucky lady caught your eye?” Parker asked. The look on Parker’s face looked like he knew what was coming. ‘Not quite yet, focusing on my career.’ Same old blah blah blah that Joel always gave during interviews. But neither him or Chace expected the answer that came out of Joel’s mouth, causing Chace to jerk his head to look in his direction to see if it was real or not.

“ Yeah, actually” he said adjusting his baseball hat over his head. “ I’m not in a relationship by any means but there’s been a girl that has caught my eye” Joel said as he watched Parker. ‘ And we’re not talking Dani Cooper or Rosie Madison?’ Parker asked skeptically, which made Joel smile and shake his head. “ No they’re both great girls, but.. no.. “ he said as he watched Parker. ‘ So tell us more about this girl then.. who is the girl that caught the eye of Joel Foster?’ Parker asked, who seemed to be realizing he was getting a first scoop on a Foster story. “ I’d love to tell you but I have no idea,” he said honestly with a wave of his hand as if the thought was ridiculous. “ I met this girl and she was pretty much this whirlwind of personality and good looks. I thought about her a lot, she never gave me her name. Which is unusual for me. It’s difficult because I’m still so… work oriented. To me my career will always come first, and it’s not because of my own selfishness. I think that I owe myself to my fans. I need to be in the studio for them. I need to nail every dance move for them. I need to put out the best product I can.. because they expect it. I don’t want to fail them. So it’s.. difficult, to be in a relationship with me. I’m very stubborn. I know what I want in life, and I’m not easily distracted by things. She’s got me distracted.” he said honestly.

“ That sounds incredible. Did you ever see her again?”. Joel stared blankly in front of him, it was something he hadn’t even explain to Ryan yet. “ Once,” he offered. ‘ And where was that?’ Parker looked like he was on the edge of the seat. “ It was right before I got hit by a car. I was running off a bus to go catch her when I spotted her in a crowd,” he said, looking around at how eerily quiet it had gotten in the studio. ‘ So you got hit by a car because you were running after your mystery girl?” Parker asked after what felt like forever of silence. Joel lowered his eyes before he finally gave a nod, “ Yeah..” he admitted outloud, knowing that would answer some questions Ryan had. “ So are you going to find her?” Joel nodded, “ Absolutely, and this time.. I’m not letting anything get in my way,” he said thinking back on the car and how it had hurled him into the cement. ‘ Wow… ‘ Parker said, before he looked up to see that one of Joel’s handlers was gesturing to wrap the interview up. ‘ Alright well, such an incredible story. Thanks to both of you for coming out today. Make sure you guys go and check Joel Foster he’s back on tour starting Monday the 23rd with his first show starting in California. We’ll be sure to follow that closely and keep you updated on event dates and arenas.. and uh.. thanks again Joel for coming in, Chace it’s always good to see you. Thanks for stopping by”. Both Joel and Chace said goodbye before they headed out of the studio. “Bro…” Chace started off, but Joel was already taking a pack of cigarettes out of his back pocket. “ I don’t want to talk about it,” he said before he brought a cigarette to his lips and headed outside.
