It had been about two hours since Anabelle showed up for hair and make up before her interview with Hunter and in that time she had learned all about the make up artists personal life and what motivated her to come to the big city and pursue her dream. She found out about the wardrobe interns fashion design dreams for college and had asked a few of the set techs what had led them to this point. Everyone’s story was so fascinating, and it seemed like they all had so much hard work that led them to this point and Anabelle just sort of felt like she had just lucked into it. She smiled as she watched a few of the girls fawning over Hunter. They had looked a little jealous when Anabelle had shown up at the studio with Hunter but the interview was about people in the industry that were friends in different entertainment fields. And they were both so new to theirs. Hunter had an amazing NFL season and Anabelle still didn’t understand why she was here. But she had insisted to Hunter that they show up a few hours early. Everyne was working so hard for them, the least they could do was show a little appreciation. Which was why she had Starbucks deliver a ton of coffee and pastries. Then when the wardrobe department tried changing her outfit, she declined politely numerous times before she finally convinced the girl to take the clothes for herself. They were going to give them to Anabelle anyways and she had no purpose for them, let the girl have a little designer fun. Besides it was an interview about her, right? Anabelle was as cowboy boots, denim shorts and flannel shirt as it could get. Some designer in New York had actually sent her some free clothes. Free. Who did that? But Anabelle had never worn Chanel before and the people down at the Salvation Army seemed much happier to get it than she did. ‘ Hunter Riggins won’t change into the outfit we have for him either’ she heard one of the assistants saying and Anabelle fussed over her own shirt, sitting up as she spoke, “ Well his mama gave him the shirt he is wearing…” she said as though that was the end all, smiling brightly as she nodded. “ She’s gonna be so proud..” she said before she laughed quietly out of excitement for Hunter. Look at him.. their small towns own, going to the city and making good.
Anabelle perked up as Collin peeked his head in with his hand over his eyes. ‘ Are you dressed?’ he questioned, as he stepped inside slowly. It was so sweet of him to watch over her like this, part of her assumed it was because he felt like he owed her. But good lord almighty boy, there was no debt left to be paid. “ Hey there,” she said happily as she stood up and made her way over to him. ‘ .. Isn’t that the outfit you wore this morning?” he asked, tilting his head to the side only slightly as he questioned her. Anabelle shuffled past him, waving him off with a quick flick of her hand. “ Nobody is gonna care about what I am or am not wearing Collin Reynolds.. I do have a question for you though. Did you make sure that Logan Renner got that edible arrangement I sent him?” she asked, looking up at him hopefully. ‘ You don’t have to send Logan a gift basket because you’re doing an interview,” Collin said, smiling faintly at her. “ A little appreciation never hurt anybody. Those edible arrangements.. I am tellin’ you. New York is fancy. It’s pretty.. and if you’re hungry, you just have a little bite… They think of everything here,” she said as Collin placed his hand on her lower back and ushered her towards the set. ‘ Well I am sure he appreciates it, because yes I made sure that it got sent to him,”. Anabelle relaxed her shoulders out of relief before she turned to him as she walked excitedly, “ Your mama’s birthday is coming up. We should send her one of those, too” she said before Collin placed his hands on her shoulders and pointed her in the direction of Hunter. ‘Alright, I’m sure you’ll remind me. Go get em’ tiger.” he said before shaking his head and walking away.
Anabelle looked up at Hunter, waving excitedly as she watched the girls fussing over him. Just like they did in high school. She and Hunter may have ran in the same crowd in high school, but they only really became close when she moved out to New York and needed someone from home so she didn’t feel lonely in the most crowded place in the world. Plus Anabelle had been told, and she wasn’t sure how accurate this was, but she had been told that she was a little bit too naïve and trusting. Especially for this big city, but people had it all wrong. There were some of the nicest people in the world here. Some of them looked at her like she was a cartoon character, but she would not trade living here for anything. But that was probably because she got to visit home a lot, so she didn’t get too homesick. But now that Hunter had become so famous, it seemed like every time they flew home together on Riley’s plane people just wanted to take their picture all the time. And around the city too. What in the world were they trying to get at? Anabelle walking with Hunter at the airport was not that exciting. Anabelle watched as they worked on the set, moving furniture around. “ Oh!” she said, jumping back to reality. “ Y’all need a hand? I forgot my manners,” she said apologetically before she walked over to the set. They were talking about moving a plant out of frame so she leaned down and picked up the plant by the pot it was planted in when she heard Collin yell her name from across the room. When she looked over he was doing a kill gesture to her before shaking his head, holding back a laugh. Anabelle frowned as one of the set assistants took the plant from her, ‘ It’s okay Miss Hart.. we can take care of it’ the young boy said and Anabelle wiped her hands together to get rid of the small amount of dirt on her hands. “ Well I appreciate your hard work,” she said, giving him a pat on the shoulder. ‘Miss Hart do you mind if I get your autograph? I would be my daughter’s hero .. we just bought tickets for your show,’ one of the elderly women said and Anabelle tilted her head. “ You want my silly old signature? And you bought tickets. Why in the world would you do that? I sing in the shower for free.. If it makes your daughter happy I’d sing for free any day of the week.. that’s just silly,” she said, awkwardly signing her name on a piece of paper for the woman. She noticed a football tucked under her arm. She must have a son, too. Hunter had already taken care of that. Autographs were not something she was used to doing. Good lord almighty, this was her first actual interview.
Anabelle frowned, feeling someone tug her hair out of her ponytail. Alright well if she wasn’t going to change clothes she guessed that she could let them finally fuss over her a little bit. ‘ Oh your hair is already curly…’ the hair stylist said, giving a small look of approval. Anabelle made a look of confusion. Compliments in New York were strange,.. if that was supposed to be one. She waited a beat, trying to think that one over in her head. “.. Your hair is already styled nicely as well..” she said, giving a satisfied smile after the hair stylist walked away while she seemed in thought. Anabelle pushed her bangs out of her face, letting her hair rest over her shoulder before she finally made her way over to Hunter. “ Hey sugar,” she said, standing on her toes as she wrapped her arms around his muscular frame and hugged him tightly. “ Them hens in the hen house are talkin’ about what a handsome tall drink of water you are,” she said before she smiled, slapping her hand on her knee as she laughed like that was the most adorable thing in the world. She coughed as she stood closer to him. She wanted to tell him something but she didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. “I think that boy over there was trying to get fresh with me earlier,” she said, looking over at the boy who had tried to attach a microphone to the inside of her shirt. She placed her hands up, shaking her head slowly as she spoke, “ Now Hunter you know I am not one to judge, but hooking up with a boy that quickly in public is not a saddle I am willing to hop up on,” she said before she placed her hands back in her back pockets. ‘ Look at you two.. looking like Barbie and Ken’ the show’s producer said before Anabelle smiled brightly. “ Maybe a barnyard Barbie and Ken..” she said before she gasped excitedly, “ Actually one time, out in a barnyard..ironically.. Hunter here was throwin’ back the beer bottles pretty much like he throws them pansy boys down the field on Sundays and h-“ she stopped before she was interrupted, ‘ Miss Hart we’re a little behind schedule with all of todays’…activities. Do you mind heading on set with Mr. Riggins?’ he asked politely and instantly Anabelle felt horrible. Had her behavior today made them be delayed? She walked over to the comfy looking chair, making eye contact with Collin and tilting her head towards the producer, trying to indicate to him that they needed to send him an edible arrangement. Anabelle sat down, crossing her legs over one another before someone came over and told her to put her other leg on top. Well who and their mama cared which way she sat? But if it pleased them she would do so happily. She switched her legs, wrapping her hand around her knee as she watched them. ‘ Okay go ahead and do take one on the intro .. alright. No pressure, just relax and have fun. On three…two….” the guy behind the camera said before pointing at Anabelle. She blinked, pursing her lips as she looked at everyone staring at her. After a few seconds the guy behind the camera stood up straight. “ That’s where you talk, honey” he said, giving her a nod. “ You didn’t say one…” she said, slightly confused before she turned her head to look at Hunter. “ He didn’t say one” she said, shaking her head before she looked back at the gentleman and smiled. “ I’m sorry sugar maybe I just didn’t hear you..” she said apologetically. “ My mama says I’m hard of hearing,” she said, thinking maybe it were true. ‘We’re going to try again and uh this time.. I will.. I guess I’ll say one’ he said, causing Anabelle to smile.
‘ Three…two…one..’ he offered and Anabelle smiled excitedly. Aw, he did so well. “ Hey y’all. My name is Anabelle Hart and I am lucky enough to sit here with my best friend in the entire world Hunter Riggins. And there are just all sort of questions in this box here that I’m supposed to ask him for the fans out there. Which I am super excited about because I am probably his number one fan,” she said as she leaned forward to pick out the box, “ Well number two,” she said, quickly thinking of Mandi before she made a face and looked at Hunter. “ Number three… That Riley Collins boy has a borderline troublesome obsession with you,” she said with slight concern before she looked into the box and took out a slip of paper. “ Alright Hunter, she said, adjusting back against the chair she was seated in. “ How does it feel to travel back home to Texas now that you’re a hometown hero?” she asked, folding the piece of paper up and setting it gently on the table in front of her. Well that was silly. Hunter was always a hometown hero. Him and his brother were football stars, and now look.. for Hunter that hadn’t changed. But instead of throwing out her input Anabelle just smiled politely, looking over at Hunter like he was the greatest thing to come out of Texas since Willie Nelson.
