Natalia sat down in the chair she was appointed to and smiled at the woman who handed her a water bottle. This was actually a last minute, ish, interview. Somehow E! found out that her music video was going to be released today and they had called her yesterday afternoon to schedule an interview for today. Of course she was going to take it, why wouldn't she? This gave her a chance to promote the album coming out at the end of the month and her tour that she had been planning. It would be of South America and Australia. That was her dream. She had always dreamed of performing in South America and knowing she had fans in Australia made her want to go there and make them happy. Natalia put the water bottle on the floor next to her as Ryan Seacrest came over. She stood up and shook his hand and gave him a small hug, "Hey, nice to see you again." "I know, feels like just last month I saw you." he said as they both sat down. Natalia smiled and laughed. It was actually last month, She was on American Idol. She performed "When I look At You" and watched the remaining contestants perform her songs. It was such a pleasure being able to help them out.
"So I got a sneak peek at your album coming out and I have to say I love it. Its definitely different than what you have been doing." "Thank you and yeah, it is. I felt like I was changing and my music changed with me." Ryan nodded, "I think it was for the better. I really enjoyed it. Can't Be Tamed has to be my favorite on the album. And the video, amazing." Natalia smiled, "Thank you." Ryan smiled, took a drink of water and then brought his attention back to Natalia. "So your vision is captured in the video and you mentioned that you don't want it to be about the politics or how provocative it is, but the first impression is 'wow, this stands out, this is a sexy video'." Natalia nodded, "Yeah and I think no matter what like all the dancers and the way I was dressed and my hair and make up, yeah its a gorgeous video and that's what it is. It is a sexy video and you can't really take that away from it, but it's not the premise. It's not like 'oh whats your video about?' oh its about being sexy. Cause that's what a lot of videos are and that's not what I wanted. The video isn't about being sexy or who is wearing less clothes, that's what every video I feel like is about and that's not what I wanted this video to be about. Its about explaining the song and living the lyrics, instead of just being like this is about me. The video wasn't all about me. The video was about the song purely."
"Do you though feel a little liberated from the song with it finally being done and coming out?" "I feel like I'm really proud of it. After the Party In The USA video it was one that I really like. I was like I think my fans will really relate to the video.I think it's really fun and I was proud of the video and this again I'm just really proud of it because I think people can relate to it. Even if you're just going to high school, so many people feel like they have to be one way to fit in and for me it's never been about fitting it. I'd rather stand out than fit in. When my fans watch this video I want them to be like 'OK I've felt like this before, that's my high school or the group, the clique I'm stuck in. I wanna break out. I can't be what they want me to be.'" Ryan smiled, "You do very well with breaking away and standing out. You are your own person." Natalia laughed, "I try. I don't like going with the norm."
"Well what do you think that core fan of yours, what they will react with? How will they see it?" Natalia shifted in her seat and crossed her legs. "I think a lot of people will react with, um, I think a lot of my fans have grown with me watching the show and I think it's the first step to growing up and ,um, but I think it's the right way so I think people will say 'Okay its really cool that way that its the way I feel sometimes' they may have been like me ya know. I started the show in 6th grade and I graduated last year and I'm sure my fans have thought of that and felt like that too. I think it'll be nice that they see that we have grown up together and they'll say 'She has grown up and she feels what I feel and relates to that'. But it also sets me apart and I think explains you know my life now but it doesn't you know exclude other people's lives. It not just about how fabulous and glamorous things are, its more of I don't want to be in a cage, I wanna be free and do what I love and it doesn't matter how many people come to the cinema to see my movie,or how many people buy the record. Its about I wanna make the music and make the movies that I want."
"Good, good. Its always better when you get what you want. I was excited to see the video had finally come out. I thought we would get it first but, I understand how it was presented. What's up with the 'Congrats baby'?" Natalia smiled and then bit her lip nervously as she began to blush a little. "I guess the cat's out of the bag now." she said with a small laugh. "I guess I can say it now. Collin Reynolds is my boyfriend.." "Also your co-worker." "Yes, yes he is." "Well how long have you guys been dating? Not to pry. I just want to see how long you've been hiding this boyfriend." Natalia smiled, "Since March 14th, so 2 months. Yeah, two months." Ryan nodded, "Good, good. I do have to say you guys are cute together. I've seen pictures in the gossip columns. Good looking guy." "Can't have him." Natalia joked.
"I hear you have a tour in the making..is it true?" Natalia nodded, "Yeah, I have been planning one for a few months now. As of right now it's only for South America and Australia. We'll have to see about a US one." "I will have to go to Aussie when you go. Now the CD, when can we see it." "Actually you can pre-order it on iTunes tonight at midnight. It'll be out May 31st. I really can't wait for everyone to hear it. We worked hard on it."
"Like I said, I've heard it and I loved it. I know everyone will. Would you like to introduce your video?" "I'd love to." Natalia turned to the camera, "Here is my brand new music video, Can't Be Tamed. Hope you enjoy it." "And cut! Great job everybody." Natalia picked up her water bottled, stood up and hugged Ryan. "It was nice seeing you again. Bye everyone." she said as she headed out the studio door and down the stairs to the entrance.
