Giulia was shaking her head, thinking this was not a good idea at all. It seemed like Roxy always seemed to take it upon herself to try and help Giulia break out of her shell, out grow her shyness. Like taking her to a party, introducing her to someone and then walking away to go find someone else, leaving Giulia to either be social or fail the mission. Like today. Roxy had been like, "I really want to go to the club, you should come with me." And Giulia said something like, "I don't really go to clubs... I don't dance." Which had led to Roxy deciding they needed to go to some type of dance class so Giulia could loosen up some. Roxy dragged her into the building where this particular studio was, saying, "If you don't learn to just loosen up, how on earth are you going to meet anyone ever?" "I'm okay with being single, Roxy." Roxy stopped to look at her, making a face, "No one wants to be single. 'Single and loving it' is what people tell themselves so they don't feel like a lonely loser, and 'Single and ready to mingle' is a nice way of saying I'm single and desperate to not be. No one wants to be single." And what would Roxy know about being single anyways? She was 'single' but she always had some guy on the side. At the moment it was Giulia's cousin Vinny and Giulia usually ignored the fact that they fooled around behind closed doors. Apparently a relationship was too much for them, but nothing at all wasn't working for them either. FWB's? Probably.
Still, Giulia followed Roxy into the studio where a small group of people had gathered, guys and girls. This was supposed to be a partnering class which, Giulia had to hand it to Roxy, was sort of clever. It wasn't as if Giulia couldn't dance, she didn't have two left feet. She knew how to do a simple box step type of thing. In other words, she knew what to do if she were gong to a debutante ball, not a club. But what did they have in common? Dancing with someone of the opposite sex, that was the part that made her nervous. It wasn't like she was scared of guys, she was shy around girls too. She was shy around everyone. She didn't know what her deal was. She was just a shy person, always had been, probably would still be for a while unless she bucked up and tried to be a little more outgoing. Giulia turned to Roxy and whispered, "How is this going to teach me how to dance in a club? This is like, ballroom partnering stuff, the closest this might get would be salsa." Roxy shook her head, "Giulia, its not what kind of dancing it is, I know you could figure out what kind of dancing is appropriate at a club. It's the dancing with a complete stranger part you need to get over. A complete stranger could be your future husband or something." Giulia made a face and Roxy shrugged, "Shut up, I know you're one of those girls, looking for a potential mate, not a fuck buddy." Well, she was right. Giulia was not Roxy, she was not looking for a one night stand or someone she could make booty calls to. Roxy smiled brightly and then said, "Well, have fun. I just remembered I have someone to go meet up with." She winked, leaving Giulia standing there about to bolt too. She was just gonna leave her? Giulia was half inclined to leave, not only because situations like this made her uncomfortable, but also because it wasn't like Giulia had a dance partner. She took a deep breath, watching Roxy leave. Just like that time at the party, leaving Giulia to fend for herself in a sea of strangers. it was like teaching your kid to swim by throwing them in the pool and thinking instinct would just kick in. Then again, Giulia had met some nice people at the party. She may have felt weird at first, a little like an outsider, but by the time Roxy was drunk enough to leave, Giulia had decided it hadn't been so bad. Anabelle had been sooo nice to her. And Hope had introduced her to a few people. In this situation, Giulia had no one, she was supposed to just be confident on her own. Maybe she could do that. Giulia turned around tentatively, picking out the teacher over by the stereo, finding music. Maybe she would just wait until someone said something to her, so she knew what she should be doing.
