“ Oh my gosh we’re matching” Meredith said as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders to hug him. “ Almost, you are baring your stomach and I can see your bra” Ethan said, narrowing his eyebrows slightly before he leaned away from the hug to glare at her. Meredith smiled. “ I didn’t really feel like dressing up today” she said and Ethan gave a small nod, agreeing. ‘ Me either, Catnip’ he said before giving her a small wink. Ethan placed his hand on her lower back before escorting her over to the set and Meredith smiled, giving a hug to the interviewer before she took her seat. “ Did you plan on matching?” the interviewer asked with a slight chuckle and Meredith gave a strict nod, “ Uniformity, it’s important. We have to represent the same district so.. team District 12” she said dryly, before licking her lips as she adjusted in her seat. She looked over at Ethan who was making a face at someone for getting too close to him while adjusting the microphone under his shirt. “ Well we’re glad to have you both, “ he said and Meredith gave a small nod, “ We are glad to be here,” she said, including Ethan in that statement since she knew that he himself would never say such a thing. Meredith puffed out her cheeks as someone brought up a few glasses of water for them, setting them down on the little stand between them before backing off immediately. Meredith lifted the glass, taking a drink from it before she set it down. “ Don’t drink out of my glass” she said sternly to Ethan under her breath. Ethan leaned over to pick up Meredith’s glass before he picked it up and took a quick drink from it. “ Real mature, Fox” she said, picking up his glass and licking around the outside rim of it.
Meredith was setting the glass down just as the interviewer was getting started, “ We are joined in the studio today with Hunger Games stars Meredith Jergens and Ethan Fox… we’re missing a pretty important cast member, it’s a shame he couldn’t be here today,” the interviewer said, looking over at the two of them. “ He’s not THAT important,” Meredith said, making a slight face as she crossed her legs and bounced her foot a bit. “ Dan is filming right now, but um.. I know that he’ll be stopping by for an interview after that so you’ll get to see him in his dirt and make up” Ethan offered diplomatically as he bit the edge of his lip and looked towards the interviewer. “ So as far as filming goes.. is it different this time around? the interviewer asked and Meredith widened her eyes, “ Yes!” she said enthusiastically before Ethan interrupted her, “ No.. what, how is it different this time?” he questioned her, looking at her like she was slightly insane. “ It’s so much bigger. People follow me on set, it’s so weird. But girls followed you and Dan all the time on set anyways, even in the first film. So you two were probably just used to the attention,” she said, putting her hand up as if to shoo Ethan away. “ It wasn’t that bad,” he offered, causing Meredith to make a ‘ yeah effing right’ face to the interviewer. “ Speaking of girls on set, there was a romance between you and one of your co-stars in the first film is that correct, Ethan?” Meredith looked over at Ethan who gave a stiff nod, adding, “ She was nice,”. Meredith instantly whistled, accompanied by the gesture of circling her finger around her ear to suggest that the girl was crazy. “ That girl was a tribute on and off screen. Extreme measures.” she said, adjusting slightly in her seat. “ This one dates co-workers” Ethan said, gesturing his thumb to hint towards Meredith, who was nodding along slowly in agreement, causing Ethan to continue sarcastically, “ That’s why we had to get a new director for the second film,”. Meredith continued to nod before grazing her tongue across her teeth. “ Well it was really helpful because Dan came up to me one day on set and was like ‘ Hey girl… you’re going to be famous. You get to date celebrities now, not directors.” And I was like… Well, thank you for informing me, I wasn’t aware. Now I know.” Meredith said keeping a straight face before she took in a quick breath and sighed quietly. “ So emotions are running on high on set.. what was the hardest thing for you in filming entirely so far?” the interviewer asked and Meredith narrowed her eyebrows. “ Everyone expects me to say scenes with my sister. I used to say that. I don’t have a sister. But at this point in interviews, I do have love. I know what it’s like to.. know you would give your life to protect someone else. So scenes with Dan are.. crushing for me” she said before she looked over at Ethan who was sitting up, “ Yeah I would pick scenes with Dan, too. But that’s because he’s a horrid actor. And is ugly. No one wants to look at that while they are trying to work,” he said with a quiet laugh under his breath, causing Meredith to shake her head in mock disapproval.
“ Good acting and people being good for their roles.. Why do you think they picked Meredith for Katniss?” the interviewer asked and Ethan took in a deep breath, “ She’s talented, beautiful. Stunning really. She says she is nothing like Katniss. Not true. She is goofy, but they’re in different environments. In District 12, in the arena.. she would be Katniss, a warrior. he offered before giving a small smile to her. “ And why do you think they cast Dan and Ethan for their respective roles?” the interviewer asked, turning his attention to Meredith. Meredith thought for a moment, trying to think of how to best express herself when she tilted her head from side to side and continued. “ Ethan is handsome, devastatingly. His is accent is hot.. I mean he just captures your attention. We had the most screen-tests together, since he was so .. fresh to this, and we just really clicked right away. He’s versatile. The director would ask different things of him, try it this way, now try this. And he was just able to adapt, and that’s one of the greatest things about Gale, he adapts to survive. she said before taking in a deep breath. “ And Dan..” she said as though it were obvious but then scoffed to continue an explanation, “ Dan owns a room. I can’t stress enough that he is Peeta. He was the first person cast for the movie. I remember my screen-test with him during my audition. And I had met him once before, but t see him in this environment and to know that I might have the potential to work side by side with such an amazing actor, I was shell-shocked. I had never seen someone so captivating in my entire life. He blows my mind. He is effortlessly amazing and he lights up every single room he walks into. He has an engaging, charming personality. On screen and off screen he has the ability to convey that he is someone you want to fight for and alongside as well. He came on set and it came alive,” she said before cutting herself off because she rambled too entirely much about how amazing Dan was.
‘ You speak so highly of him, he’s dated other co-stars before. What do you think makes your relationship different?” the interviewer asked. Ethan made a ‘what the fuck’ face but kept silent as he looked at the director with eyes so searing that Meredith was half convinced he might actually set on fire right before them. “ Um..” she said, having wondered that herself a time or two. “ People I think, if they put thought into it, can see that Hunger Games is.. powerful. There’s a message behind it. Are you going to let others control your destiny? Are you going to be a spark, a flame.. a mockingjay? The reason why it’s different, I can’t speak for Dan, but for me this is revolutionary. Not just in acting but in my life. I’m proud of this project. I’m proud of what it means. And I got to share this experience with someone who made me want to be better as a person, who gave me something to fight for. The cameras went off, it didn’t change. I love everything about him. Everything. I love that he allowed me such an opportunity to grow as an actress. I love the way he challenges me in our personal lives. I love the way he can be completely serious one moment and then.. slapping Ethan across the face the next. He makes me excited to wake up in the mornings. He helps me discover new things about myself. He’s what I’m thankful for in life. It’s.. this road I’m on is exciting and I have no idea where it’s going to go, but I know who I want to spend it with. I love him. I’ll always love him. He’ll always carry my heart. And God bless him because he puts up with my craziness. Eighty percent of what comes out of my mouth is sarcastic bullshit,” she said before looking at Ethan was nodding, ‘ And she says it so dryly. You believe her. I’ve fallen victim to it a few times.’ he said before glaring at her playfully.
“ So Hunger Games. A love story or a revolution story?” the interviewer asked and Meredith and Ethan both looked at each other, sort of wondering what the proper response would be before Meredith turned to look back at the interviewer. “ Foremost? Revolutionary. But love is revolutionary. At least it has been for me,” she offered with a slight shrug of her shoulder. “We look at comparisons between the movie and you guys. Katniss and Peeta faked a relationship to ‘ sell the show’. What do you say to people who think you and Dan are fake as well and are just doing the same thing?” the interviewer asked. Meredith scratched the back of her neck, feeling herself start to just become pissed off. “ When you interview Dan I’ll let you ask him that question so he can answer it. He has more couth than I do. My initial response is just to tell people to go fuck themselves, but he’d have a much classier way of putting it” she said before Ethan offered up, “ Go coitus yourself” he said before giving a serious nod. “ Romantic” he added before laughing slightly and looking at Meredith. “ Alright well, one thing that was very real for Katniss and Peeta was the training. Real for you guys? Ethan did you have to train as well?” he asked and Meredith and Ethan both started nodding immediately. “ For I think the past .. year.. I’ve been under training for sprinting, martial arts, hand on hand combat, bow and arrow.. weaponry in general. It’s continuous. Dan had to put on fifteen pounds of muscle. So he was eating chicken, eggs, more chicken, protein shakes. And I’m staring at him with a head of lettuce. Plus the guys were trained by marines, so that’s pretty effing intense” she said, thinking back on all of their training.
“ Yeah, I had to lose weight. Which sucked. I don’t think I lost nearly as much as the director wanted me to. But training is every day and night. If we aren’t in make up or filming while we are on set, then we are all in little groups training. And I still don’t feel like it’s enough, I loved every second of it. It’s probably my favorite thing about filming.” Ethan said as he cracked his thumbs underneath his fingers and then looked back to the interviewer. “ It’s been confirmed that the final book of Hunger Games will be put into two movies. What does that mean for you?” he asked and Ethan gave a small laugh, “ That we’ll all be in training for atleast another three years. It’s great. To me this entire crew is family. Clearly, Dan is my roommate. Death is one of my best friends in the entire world. It’s important to all of us to do this story justice and I love the character of Gale. It’ll be fantastic to see him through his journey. This time we’re filming in Hawaii, so it’ll be interesting to see where we go next,” Ethan offered and Meredith just smiled while watching him before she adjusted in her seat. “ And for Katniss journey, are you prepared for the wrath from Peeta?” he asked and Meredith shook her head instantly in a slow motion. “ No. I don’t care how good of an actor someone thinks they are. You’re in my position. The person you love is screaming at you that they hate you and want to kill you. I’m not looking forward to it at all.” she said without going into too much depth for that answer. “ So you’re getting to do the next few movies with someone you’re in a relationship with. And the three of you are close. How does that effect things for you?” the interviewer asked and Meredith frowned while watching Ethan, “ I feel horrible for Ethan. For me it’s a blessing. Whether it’s a good day on set or a bad day, the person I want to talk to is Dan,” she said while she watched him. “ I actually.. no, it’s good. I like sort of being isolated from a relationship during filming. I mean I get visitors, but they always go. Which is great, for now. Obviously I miss those while I’m gone. Meredith and Dan are sort of seasoned actors. I’m still new to this I’d say so distractions for me aren’t good. It’s difficult to reign in, remember that I’m in love with Katniss, when I’ve got someone visiting me,” he offered to which the interviewer quickly added, “ That someone being Natalia Richmond?” . Ethan gave a nod as he answered, “ Usually,”. Meredith could see the wheels turning behind his eyes, him automatically starting to power down and not want to talk. “ Your fiancé?” the interviewer pressed, before Ethan answered shortly. “ Yes,” with a slight of coldness behind his tone. “ Congratulations, that’s all very exciting. I know your fans and, Natalia alike, couldn’t be more thrilled. Best of luck to the both of you” he said before Ethan gave another stiff nod, “ Thank you”. There was no reason he couldn’t at least thank the guy, right? “ Merdith is more willing to talk about her personal life than you are..” the interviewer said cautiously before Ethan sat up in his chair to adjust the way he was sitting. “ Yes. But I also think it’s because this experience brought her love. It didn’t bring me love.. life long friends and family yes, not love,” he offered with a tone of finality while Meredith nodded along to what he was saying.
Apparently the interviewer realized he wasn’t going to get anywhere with this so he pressed onto the next question, “ So you’ve both said in interviews before the preparation the tributes go through is a lot like what you have gone through. Waxing, bleaching, make up, costumes, interviews, being paraded around. So for your last two questions, we’re going to see how well your physical training has paid off” he said before standing from his seat. Meredith and Ethan both looked to each other, not entirely sure where this was going but when Ethan stood up he held out his hand to help Meredith stand and they both made their way over to the interviewer who was standing behind a marked spot, facing a wall covered in balloons that were blown up. “ Oh god,” Ethan said, apparently having figured out what was going on a hell of a lot quicker than Meredith did. She narrowed her eyebrows, still trying to piece it all together before someone came over to her and offered her a bow and arrow. ‘ There are little slips of paper in each balloon with a different question on it,’ the interviewer explained. Well that’s all she needed, “ I’m kind of nervous,” she said, pulling a bow out before she leveled it along the side of the arrow and straightened out her arms. She closed one eye, closing in on the target as Ethan continued to speak to the interviewer. ‘ She’s phenomenal.’ he said while shaking his head. Meredith took in a steady breath, pulling the tightened string back as taut as she could while balancing the arrow against her other fingers. There was a moments silence before she released it, sending the arrow flying directly to the balloon in the center of the wall. She smiled as she lowered the bow, handing it off to Ethan who was questioning the interviewer about how safe it was to actually let them do this. Meredith kneeled down, picking up the piece of paper before she unfolded it quickly. “How do you plan on relaxing when filming for the second movie is wrapped?” she read aloud. She narrowed her eyebrows and thought for a moment before shrugging her shoulder. “ I think I want to spend a week at home and actually relax. Then I want to go somewhere with Dan. He’s very athletic. We’ve been in Hawaii forever, I want to go somewhere with snow. My ideal thing would be to take a trip, but not make plans after that when we get there. Stay ay a crappy hotel. Backpack through Europe. I don’t care. Dan and I do spend so much time in the spotlight so it’ll be nice to get out of the fishbowl and be able to breathe. Plus, he’s my best friend in the entire world, and it’s important to just spend time together and sort of.. hang out. I love walking red carpets with him but I’d rather be at his and Ethan’s place, grilling. So .. Dan.. we’re going on vacation soon,” she said with authority as she pointed towards the camera and gave a distinct nod.
Ethan was picking up the bow and arrow trying to piece it all together and Meredith sort of cringed. He’d done so poorly during training, that’s why his scenes with the bow and arrow had been cut from the movie. He couldn’t even pretend to hold it correctly let alone send an arrow flying in the right direction. She tried to take a few steps to the side without being noticed. She watched quietly as Ethan lifted the bow into the arrow, clumsily releasing the it so that it flew wobbily towards the floor. His second attempt wasn’t any better, hitting the wall this time though, just not the wall they intended for. He set the bow down, talking to the interviewer. Meredith went over, picking up the bow and arrow before she followed the same process. One eye closed, pull the string taut, focus in, steady breath, release. “ We might have to get Meredith to shoo- jesus” Ethan said, hearing the balloon pop and looked over to see that Meredith had already shot one for her like he was proposing that she should do. “ Well thank you ma’am” he said, tipping his imaginary hat before he went over to pick up the slip of paper. “ What would you be doing if you weren’t an actor?” he read off. Ethan set the slip of paper down on the table that Meredith was standing in front of and scratched the side of his jaw. “ I would be playing soccer. I would want to be on a major league team” he said. His answers always took less time than Meredith’s, but that was mainly because he didn’t feel the need in explaining himself on anything. You got the answer, what more did you want? Ethan placed his hands in his back pocket, moving his right hand out of it quickly as Meredith came up to his side and wrapped his arms around her shoulder in a hug before letting it hang there. “ Alright well it seems like we’ve packed enough excitement into this interview and we better start gearing up for when Dan Hudson comes on set, hopefully his bow and arrow skills will be a little better than Ethan’s” the interviewer joked. Dan didn’t even get any training and he was still probably better than Ethan. “ We just want to thank you two for coming in and best of luck, we can’t wait to hear what happens for you guys next” he said before cutting off the interview. “ Ugh,” Ethan said, instantly starting to walk off of the set once the camera stopped rolling. Meredith rolled her eyes, following him as quickly as she could, “ Its not that bad!” she called out before she saw Dan coming in from filming, which clearly he had just got done with. ‘ Hi” she said happily before she stepped over to him. “ Be prepared for lots and lots of questions about me. We’re out, we’re proud.” she said with a wiggle of her eyebrows before she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and kissed him, dirty make up and all.

Meredith and Dan are sort of seasoned actors. I’m still new to this I’d say so distractions for me aren’t good. It’s difficult to reign in, remember that I’m in love with Katniss, when I’ve got someone visiting me,” he offered to which the interviewer quickly added, “ That someone being Natalia Richmond?” . Ethan gave a nod as he answered, “ Usually,”. Meredith could see the wheels turning behind his eyes, him automatically starting to power down and not want to talk. “ Your fiancé?” the interviewer pressed, before Ethan answered shortly. “ Yes,” with a slight of coldness behind his tone. “ Congratulations, that’s all very exciting. I know your fans and, Natalia alike, couldn’t be more thrilled. Best of luck to the both of you” he said before Ethan gave another stiff nod, “ Thank you”. There was no reason he couldn’t at least thank the guy, right? “ Merdith is more willing to talk about her personal life than you are..” the interviewer said cautiously before Ethan sat up in his chair to adjust the way he was sitting. “ Yes. But I also think it’s because this experience brought her love. It didn’t bring me love.. life long friends and family yes, not love,” he offered with a tone of finality while Meredith nodded along to what he was saying.
Apparently the interviewer realized he wasn’t going to get anywhere with this so he pressed onto the next question, “ So you’ve both said in interviews before the preparation the tributes go through is a lot like what you have gone through. Waxing, bleaching, make up, costumes, interviews, being paraded around. So for your last two questions, we’re going to see how well your physical training has paid off” he said before standing from his seat. Meredith and Ethan both looked to each other, not entirely sure where this was going but when Ethan stood up he held out his hand to help Meredith stand and they both made their way over to the interviewer who was standing behind a marked spot, facing a wall covered in balloons that were blown up. “ Oh god,” Ethan said, apparently having figured out what was going on a hell of a lot quicker than Meredith did. She narrowed her eyebrows, still trying to piece it all together before someone came over to her and offered her a bow and arrow. ‘ There are little slips of paper in each balloon with a different question on it,’ the interviewer explained. Well that’s all she needed, “ I’m kind of nervous,” she said, pulling a bow out before she leveled it along the side of the arrow and straightened out her arms. She closed one eye, closing in on the target as Ethan continued to speak to the interviewer. ‘ She’s phenomenal.’ he said while shaking his head. Meredith took in a steady breath, pulling the tightened string back as taut as she could while balancing the arrow against her other fingers. There was a moments silence before she released it, sending the arrow flying directly to the balloon in the center of the wall. She smiled as she lowered the bow, handing it off to Ethan who was questioning the interviewer about how safe it was to actually let them do this. Meredith kneeled down, picking up the piece of paper before she unfolded it quickly. “How do you plan on relaxing when filming for the second movie is wrapped?” she read aloud. She narrowed her eyebrows and thought for a moment before shrugging her shoulder. “ I think I want to spend a week at home and actually relax. Then I want to go somewhere with Dan. He’s very athletic. We’ve been in Hawaii forever, I want to go somewhere with snow. My ideal thing would be to take a trip, but not make plans after that when we get there. Stay ay a crappy hotel. Backpack through Europe. I don’t care. Dan and I do spend so much time in the spotlight so it’ll be nice to get out of the fishbowl and be able to breathe. Plus, he’s my best friend in the entire world, and it’s important to just spend time together and sort of.. hang out. I love walking red carpets with him but I’d rather be at his and Ethan’s place, grilling. So .. Dan.. we’re going on vacation soon,” she said with authority as she pointed towards the camera and gave a distinct nod.
Ethan was picking up the bow and arrow trying to piece it all together and Meredith sort of cringed. He’d done so poorly during training, that’s why his scenes with the bow and arrow had been cut from the movie. He couldn’t even pretend to hold it correctly let alone send an arrow flying in the right direction. She tried to take a few steps to the side without being noticed. She watched quietly as Ethan lifted the bow into the arrow, clumsily releasing the it so that it flew wobbily towards the floor. His second attempt wasn’t any better, hitting the wall this time though, just not the wall they intended for. He set the bow down, talking to the interviewer. Meredith went over, picking up the bow and arrow before she followed the same process. One eye closed, pull the string taut, focus in, steady breath, release. “ We might have to get Meredith to shoo- jesus” Ethan said, hearing the balloon pop and looked over to see that Meredith had already shot one for her like he was proposing that she should do. “ Well thank you ma’am” he said, tipping his imaginary hat before he went over to pick up the slip of paper. “ What would you be doing if you weren’t an actor?” he read off. Ethan set the slip of paper down on the table that Meredith was standing in front of and scratched the side of his jaw. “ I would be playing soccer. I would want to be on a major league team” he said. His answers always took less time than Meredith’s, but that was mainly because he didn’t feel the need in explaining himself on anything. You got the answer, what more did you want? Ethan placed his hands in his back pocket, moving his right hand out of it quickly as Meredith came up to his side and wrapped his arms around her shoulder in a hug before letting it hang there. “ Alright well it seems like we’ve packed enough excitement into this interview and we better start gearing up for when Dan Hudson comes on set, hopefully his bow and arrow skills will be a little better than Ethan’s” the interviewer joked. Dan didn’t even get any training and he was still probably better than Ethan. “ We just want to thank you two for coming in and best of luck, we can’t wait to hear what happens for you guys next” he said before cutting off the interview. “ Ugh,” Ethan said, instantly starting to walk off of the set once the camera stopped rolling. Meredith rolled her eyes, following him as quickly as she could, “ Its not that bad!” she called out before she saw Dan coming in from filming, which clearly he had just got done with. ‘ Hi” she said happily before she stepped over to him. “ Be prepared for lots and lots of questions about me. We’re out, we’re proud.” she said with a wiggle of her eyebrows before she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and kissed him, dirty make up and all.
