Jesssica placed her sunglasses on over her eyes before she stepped out of her trailer, holding her cup of starbucks loosely as it hung from her fingertips clasped around the top part of the lid down at the side of her body. She had been on set since about six this morning, and that wasn’t really that unusual. But she was done filming, she just wanted to stick around and watch some of the different scenes being filmed. The two boys playing her brothers had a scene, plus Connor had a scene with her ‘dad’ so the set was still pretty busy. As if right on cue Jason came running over to catch up with her. “ Hey you aren’t heading out are you?” he asked and Jessica turned as she walked to look at him and shook her head, “ No, I was actually just on my way to set to watch you and Bradley do your scene. Why what’s up?” she asked as she stopped walking entirely to give him her full attention. “ Oh nothing. Scott just wanted me to make sure you got the script re-write. There should be one of the assistants running around with it. What are you doing later today?” he asked and Jessica scrunched her nose up. “ Weird thing? I was thinking about asking Tyler if he wanted to go to dinner. I kind of want to talk to him,” she said, before she started walking again. “ I mean, .. is that weird? That can’t be too weird. I’m just not sure Kayla would like it very much,” she said, hearing the mental ‘Mikayla’ in her own head before she rolled her eyes and kept walking. “ I guess it’s not that weird” he said, running to catch up to her.
“ Well how about a different night you let me take you out to dinner?” he asked and Jessica shrugged her shoulder, not really picking up that he might have been asking her on a date. “ Yeah sure,” she said before giving him a small and a wave, taking a different path to set as they parted ways. She wanted to talk to the director, and it seemed like finding him in his office was damn near impossible. But much to her surprise there he sat, “ Hey!” she said happily before she stepped inside. “ Got a sec?” she asked and he looked up, “ Actually I need to talk to you, too. Here let’s walk to set you gotta shoot a scene with Connor” he said, standing up from behind his desk and offered her the script re-write. “ Oh cool thanks,” she said, looking down at it from behind her sunglasses. “ So I got offered this thing with UNICEF, and I think it would be great if I could actually participate. We would just need to reschedule some shooting stuff. But I can go to Africa and be a part of this clean water project,” she said, hoping that she said it with enough enthusiasm that he would be just as excited about it. “ Reschedule..” he repeated, not sounding thrilled with the idea of pushing everyone’s schedules back. “ It’ll look great for Disney,” she said, lifting her eyebrows up as she looked over at him. He seemed to mull it over before he conceded. “ We’ll send a Disney crew with to get a few shots for commercial breaks and throw up the Friends for Change bit with it. We’ll figure it out sweetheart, do your thing” he offered and Jessica opened her mouth and smiled brightly before cheering quietly to herself. “ Thank you so much,” she said , watching him as they walked. “ And what exactly did you want to talk to me about?” she asked. “ What are your plans for your music career post Disney?” he asked and Jessica narrowed her eyebrows, sort of surprised by his question. “ Are you thinking Taboo, Virgin, Interscope?”. Jess puffed out her cheeks and sighed. “ Honestly the only label worth signing with at all is Taboo and Logan Renner is… a genius. There isn’t anything I can add to his label and he wouldn’t waste his time on me. Can I ask why?” she asked curiously. “ We just need to start figuring out how things are going to turn out once our contracts end and you decide to move on and do your own thing,” Jessica took her sunglasses off and handed them off to an assistant before she smiled at the director. “ Well I assure you whatever I decide I am going to do, I will let you know,” she said as she started to turn and found herself slamming into someone’s body, spilling her coffee on them. “ Oh my god,” Jessica said, completely mortified that she had spilled coffee on someone.
Jessica pushed her hair behind her ear and picked up the coffee cup, reaching over to the table to grab a napkin before she looked up to see who it was and gave a small head nod to Connor. “ Oh hey, here” she said, offering him the napkins. “ Can someone help him? We’re supposed to shoot a scene soon,” she said, walking by Connor as she started to dismiss herself from him, “ Nice shirt,” she said lazily before making her way onto set. “ Should I change?” she asked, looking at the director and he shook his head, “ No that outfit should actually be fine”. Jessica gave a quick nod, setting the script re-write on the counter of the kitchen set and read through it quickly. Spencer was charming blah blah blah blah blah. “ Cool,” she said, picking up one of the prop coffee cups and placed a tea bag in it so she could pretend to be making tea before she walked over to him at the kitchen table to kiss him. Jessica turned so that they could just adjust her hair real quick where she watched Connor out of the corner of her eye. It was insane how stupid she had been, to think that he cared about her. It had been an entertaining game for him, a way to cure any boredom he might have had on set. If he actually had cared about her he wouldn’t have put her in that position when it was so obvious she had feelings for him. But even now, she wasn’t mad at him for it. Being mad would mean that she still had feelings. And she was pretty sure she didn’t, because when she looked at him it didn’t tug her heartstrings. He was her co-worker, what he should have been the entire time. Finally they were done messing with her hair and she picked up the cup again and came around the other end of the island and leaned her hip against it to be on her mark. “ Sorry again about your shirt, sparky” she said, giving an apologetic smile over to him before she set the coffee cup down and rested her hands on the counter, tapping them impatiently. She didn’t think much of kissing him in this scene, and she figured that he felt the same way. In fact he probably saw kissing her on set as a lot less fun now, there wasn’t anything ‘secretive’ about it for him to get his kicks.
